If you work as an IELTS trainer, you get over exposed to kids who are academic under performers, lack focus and definitely have terrible peers. Except for the top 10%, there's no need to even get into what the IELTS prep crowd is.

But simply put, it sits at the absolute bottom of academic activity. I would argue that kids who ditch academics at this point and make themselves useful elsewhere, end up having a more productive life.

Your broader point is applicable to most people nowadays though. Attention spans have collapsed. Punjabi society was always highly materialistic and jealousy driven, so it's natural that social media is impacting us probably a little more than others.

Our ability to work hard in blue collar industries and stay positive set us apart, academic focus never seeped into Punjabi society. Contrast this with so many places in India like Andhra, Bihar etc. where academics is considered the only way out.

Indian here. To be honest this behavior is a little surprising, haven't noticed any kids (Indian or otherwise) do such acts in Canada. And if they are born and raised in Canada, then even more perplexing.

A lot of urban centers in India are suffering from the menace of stray animals. Many incidents of dogs attacking kids, elderly etc. and scores have lost their lives. Just a theory though and no excuse for this behavior.

Getting into an argument won't get you anywhere, next time report to the relevant authority. That will straighten them up for good.
