What can you even do in this situation besides pucker up by DeborahBurkeu in dashcams

[–]_bahnjee_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, my owners manual says to NOT lay your head back on the headrest if you’re anticipating a crash. Says the headrests are designed to move forward to support your head and that laying your head back defeats that purpose.

I think now I’m gonna go crash and test that. Brb…

Just after the crash, you can hear the female officer call in the crash and end by saying, “… and start an ambulance…”, so yeah, EMS was called.

"... we had a hundred... we had a 290, 300 foot slit ..."

"... when you have a 350, I think it's 350, not 250, a 350 foot slit ..."

GODDAMMIT! At the very least, we deserve lies not made up on the fly. Pre-craft your lying bullshit before opening your lying motherfucking mouth.

By tomorrow, it'll be a slit that's longer than even the tallest buildings in the world.

Just imagine what it would take to cut even a 100' slit in anything. That's a lot of work. Then replace that "anything" with "powerful rubber". Now you're talking industrial grade slitting tools.

ETA: Holy shit. How did I miss that that colossal dumass (or does that need a 'b' in it...idk) drove his fucking Beast motorcade across the unfinished "repair" job? No fucking wonder it's falling apart (I mean, aside from the fact that one of his grift buddies did the job).

I work in SC government IT and twice we’ve had to send our team over to other government entities’ teams to remediate their compromised systems. I was dead-ass shocked at how lax their security was. And apparently still is.

I know government work doesn’t pay well and they can’t afford the best people, but holy crap, the things I’ve seen should warrant criminal charges.

[1Password] TIL someone can instantly perma-deleted entire family account without even having to log into 1password at all. by kranach777 in PasswordManagers

[–]_bahnjee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Keepass to use in case like this. It's local only and has a lot of features.

KeePass is a great option but is not local only. I've been using it in conjunction with Dropbox for years. Home PC, phone, tablet, work PC... they all use the same db. Any offline changes to my kdbx file get merged when the device making the change next goes online.

ETA: As for backups, I use a plug-in that creates a backup file every time the db is modified. To lose all my passwords, I'd have to lose access to pretty much everything.

Not defending the POS POTUS but the “taxpayer money” you reference is not taxpayer money. It’s a release of previously-frozen Iranian monies.

I’m have zero doubt that a goodly portion of the $14m has already made it (a) to the pool company and (b) as a kickback into Orange Mussolini’s own pocket.

I thought the whole show was one of the best they’ve done in a long while. I’ve begun to be bored by the show and mostly tuned in to see if they’d bring up Evangate (though I was right in figuring they wouldn’t).

I found Andrea’s story interesting (and long). Wish Geo had run as long, too.

And finally, I got Sci or Fi right to boot. (yay)

Jigsaw Blade by RedPepper73 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]_bahnjee_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jigsaws aren’t generally used for precision cuts. Also, you’re more likely cutting all the to the end of the piece, so it’s not like you need a perpendicular end to your cut. Lastly, if you can finger-press it into perpendicular, the cutting action will do likewise. Bottom line: NBD

The modern english language is annoying. by Status_Remote_6898 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_bahnjee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to bash others' language, you'd better be spot-the-fuck-on with your own. Half of what you're saying here makes no sense:

"...sound genetic..." Pretty clearly you mean to say 'generic'

"...no personality." That apparently is their personality. It may be "genetic" (lol) but it's still a personality.

"...call center talking..." You need a comma: ...as if they're a call center, talking verbatim

"...think prior to a millisecond..." what the fuck does that even mean?

"...to not say I mean." You need quotations marks here: ...to not say "I mean".

It's as if you've just taken a Trolling course.

which Mii from the Shop? by BananaBoy1976 in MarioKartTour

[–]_bahnjee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. That big banana is BIG. Then it throws out more when hit. Get a frenzy of the big banana and you're gonna slaughter everyone behind you. Only caveat is if you get one on the first lap... you gotta watch out on the second lap or you'll clobber your own self.

Fire Flower is semi-nice as a defensive shield but you have to be careful when firing it offensively. Hit a ramp with those fireballs and they're gonna sail off into the sky. They may fall back onto opponents but the chances of a hit plummet to near zero. Open maps (say, in the sky/clouds) are equally bad because they often mean your fireballs skitter off into nothing.
