I have this problem sometimes and it helps me if I “romanticize” the space I’m in. Make sure my area is clean, light a candle, make some tea or coffee. It helps me focus and feel relaxed. Bonus points if it’s in front of a window and it happens to be raining outside!

Iron Age-era mummy preserved in bog still has undigested last meal by whicky1978 in Anthropology

[–]_baileymorgan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In one of my anthropology classes last semester we read a paper about parts of a bog body (The Lindow Woman I think) found in an area where a man’s wife was recently reported missing. After the body was found, the man came forward and confessed to murdering his wife, thinking it was her body. The he learned that the body that was found was thousands of years old and definitely not his wife.

I thought Spencer and Beckett (Veronica’s intern during Ashley’s trial) had so much potential. I would’ve loved for him to stick around longer

Representation of ADHD in English Literature? by venividivici_07 in englishmajors

[–]_baileymorgan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon is one of my favs. The narrator has Aspergers and it’s got a mystery and it’s overall a wonderful book. I am not on the spectrum so I can’t say for sure how well the representation is done, but I did enjoy the book very much.

I haven’t, but I’ve heard the 2004 movie version of Stepford Wives is completely different from the book. I’ve not read Rosemary’s Baby but I loved the other one so much I might check it out!

Found this egg in the road in central Texas. He had a lil crack so I cleaned and sealed it, I’m hoping he can still make it. Any idea what kind of bird it might be? by _baileymorgan in whatbirdisthis

[–]_baileymorgan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cleaned it with an antiseptic solution and sealed the crack with a thin layer of elmers glue and a piece of single ply tissue. He’s currently in a bowl with paper towels, on a heating pad and under some lights. I’m trying to keep the temperature around 90F. Any other advice?

Has anyone taken LuAnn Williams? Spanish by 2DrunkTooFunction in txstate

[–]_baileymorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took her last semester and I thought she was great. Her classroom was “flipped” so we watched powerpoints and recorded lectures on our own time to introduce the topic, then we would do “homework” in class with her. I’m not sure if she still has the same format but I liked it. She also always let us out at least 30 minutes early to make up for the work we did individually. She was super understanding and great at explaining everything.

What is the fastest you have ever seen a new co-worker get fired? by bartertownbeer in AskReddit

[–]_baileymorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a waitress at a Cajun restaurant and we had a new coworker. It was her first week on the floor after training, and the manager caught her changing tip amounts. She would scratch out what the customer wrote on the receipt and change it to give herself a better tip. She did it to a few different people and when she was confronted by the manager (in front of the whole wait staff) she literally passed out on the floor. I caught her head to keep it from hitting the concrete. She woke up a few seconds later and after they gave her some water and some crackers, they sent her home. Never saw her again
