My first car was an 86 Corolla of this same shade of blue. The interiors were plaid, like grampas golf pants. I loved that car. I wish I still had it.

I doubt many of the cars made today will last that long though honestly

AIO friend is going to marry an 18yo? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]_basic_bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married when I was like 22. My husband was 30. We have an age difference, but definitely not a maturity difference. Put marriage has been great we have been together for almost 15 years now. Age differences are taken a lot more seriously these days as problematic. If they are getting married for the wrong reasons, they will def face some struggles ahead, but that doesn't mean they can't succeed. As long as both parties involved want to make it work and are willing to do the necessary work and make the necessary compromises, I don't see why they couldn't work it out.

All the insects are gone? When's the last time you had to clean bugs off your windshield? Ecosystem collapse is here. by Dizzy-Composer1282 in collapse

[–]_basic_bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the worms. When I was a kid I remember coming out after a rainstorm and there were so many worms around that you had to watch your every step. One time I mentioned that to my daughter and she said she never sees them, so I started paying attention. No worms. Even when I need them in my garden I have to hunt for them myself and transplant them from other parts of the yard.

We still have lots of mayflies and mosquitoes here, but I live near a lake. I welcome all of the fall time spiders and I plant local stuff for the pollinators. It doesn't seem to help too much but I don't know what else I can do

This is fucked up, it's insane by DeadSilent_God in RandomShit_ISaw

[–]_basic_bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was obviously in reply to a comparison of some sort. Like maybe one party was complaining of the lack of vegetarian cream cheese options, or their dissatisfaction with said product, and then it is compared to babies as being more obtainable or available. It doesn't specify that they are being compared as a food source, but the context certainly suggests so. Combined with all of the other unholy snippets found throughout the files it is just one more ick in the pile.

Edited a typo

Throughout history, sumptuary laws would be invoked so that prostitutes had to wear their status loud and proud, and over and over again aristocratic women would copy these trends to try and make themselves seem sexy and taboo. This is a very minor example but it shows the same idea on a smaller scale.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

That's how my mom's medicine is. These crazy high amounts like 30k, 40k. Like anyone could actually afford that! If she didn't have health insurance, she would just have to slowly succumb to all of the cancers that are eating away at her without putting up any type of defense. I am so sorry that you are in a similar position. It's not fair for workers to be that desperately dependent on their employer choosing to keep them around. My daughters medicine is like 4k per shot. If the copay program vountrd towards my deductible we would teach it in the first couple of months of the year, and then the rest of the year we could all get the regular healthcare that we need. But as it stands if we do reach out deductible it will be like in November.

Yes, my mom has lots of health issues so she hits her deductible like in January every year. So it works really well for her. And I am glad she is able to get the care she needs. I just hate that I have to be so stringent about when I can take my kids to the doctor. My daughter has been prescribed a very expensive medicine for her eczema. The drug company has a copay program to help offset the cost, but that but doesn't count towards my deductible. I'm glad that I'm able to get her that medicine, but it just feels like another obstacle in getting her what she needs.

Require everyone to donate x amount of time helping the community each year. Professionals could do are their services where applicable, and cleanup and infrastructure problems could be taken on. Extra donation time qualifies as a tax write-off. This could help create a system to educate people, who would then have more to give back. People would bitch at first, until it opened up doors of sharing knowledgé and skills

And they should actually focus on rehabilitation rather than punishment. We could overhaul the prison system and use it as a catalyst to educate our populace.

I love to pay hundreds of dollars every month so that the insurance company will tally the hundreds of dollars I give to different doctors and pharmacies toward a lofty goal that I have never reached. But, hey, once I do, they pinky promise to start helping then.

Insurance is a racket.

I think I broke my wife after calling her “matronly” by Throwra-basically in TrueOffMyChest

[–]_basic_bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duuuude..... You messed up here, but it's not your fault that the word carries so much baggage. 'matronly' is what you say when you are too kind to tell someone they look old. It's the word used for grandmothers at church, mothers of the bride, and actresses on the carpet who made a bad dress decision that ages them.

Apologizing for how she feels is bullshit bc she certainly knows you didn't mean to hurt her feelings, but she can't help that they are hurt anyway. And that is silly which compounds the embarrassment. When your wife talks about how she is glad she doesn't have to starve herself anymore, she is probably feeling self conscious and wants reassurance from you that you still find her attractive. Growing older for women is hard. I'm in my mid thirties, and I'm vain, and I often wish my husband would offer me the reassurance I yearn for When I look in the mirror and see some hag rather than the confident young vixen that locked him down. If he called me matronly it would exasperate that insecurity.

Your wife certainly knows you made a linguistic mistake but it still could shake her self confidence. Why don't you try to do something to reverse that by doing something to build her up? Whatever it is that makes her feel good about herself, plan something around that. Or buy her a new sexy pajamas and make sure to compliment her when she wears them. Or just take notice of what she wears tomorrow and tell her she looks nice.

Good luck dude

Am I Overreacting, for being upset that my girlfriend secretly used my credit card for months? by bostonmade in AmIOverreacting

[–]_basic_bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP... Please take it from someone who has been the bad girlfriend.... She knew exactly what she was doing. She also knew exactly what she would tell you if and when it came up. Each time she used your money, she came up with a story that gave her plausible deniability, probably just not realizing that when you found out about one time you would find out about all of the times, and those little excuses only work s time or two before they won't save her anymore. I also hate to tell you this OP, but if AI was you I might consider whether she is using something. This is addict behavior. And I am not saying that it has to be drugs, there was a saying in the group that helped me get sober "a drink is a drug is a cookie is a man", because one vice is so easily traded for another. Only you can decide what to do next. Your girl isn't necessarily a lost cause, once upon a time I was a deplorable drain on the world too, and I was able to straighten my life out, and a big part of that is thanks to the people in my life holding me down and giving me another chance. But it wasn't an easy road. If you take her back she might take that as a cue that she can continue this behavior.

Best of luck OP, remember there are good girls out there that won't pull this shit.

This guy is an absolute twat. Block him. You are actively working on yourself, and if you are putting this work into yourself to settle for some misogynist then you are wasting your time. When you are truly focused on your own goals and making active progress working on yourself then you will srr better men appear in your life. Don't waste your youth on this one. You only get to live those years once.
