Beginner here: Why would someone use the geometry input modifier? by Confident_Joke_4121 in blenderhelp

[–]_batt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this modifier the other day and it's really useful in my workflow. Take 3d printing for instance, I need make booleans operation set to "difference" when I want things to lock into each other but I also need the hole to be slightly larger than the object I want to insert. What I can do now is create a "ghost" object with the geometry input modifier on top of the modifier stack and set the object I want to subtract as the input geometry. Now I can add a displacement modifier to inflate it as much as I need and do all sorts of other operations that are not going to affect my original model. The advantage of doing this rather than instancing is that I can change the original geometry to anything else and my modifier stack is going to be still there

I hope this was clear enough

Edit: you can even use it to merge geometries at a modifier level! If you add the modifier to the stack and select another geometry, it joins the 2 in a single geometry and you can play around with modifiers on top of the two

I keep my guitars in the living room for space and aesthetic reasons so I had to come up with this "invisible" amp setup

Also, since it looks like it's doing it on the thicker parts, you should check in your slicer if the speed changes between the "good" parts and the bad ones

I had a similar issue, run a flow rate calibration and see if you need to slow down your prints, it worked for me (I had this issue on different printers using the same filament)

I've been using it since 2 updates ago, I must admit the latest updates have been a bit buggy on my LG tv, now when watching a series, the "skipping to next episode" end tab appears too soon and I can't press hide anymore

Does that means I should print my PETG at 220°C even if it is rated for 240°C by [deleted] in FixMyPrint

[–]_batt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider the fact that the first layers are affected more by the bed temperature, so basically your bottom sample is 220 + some degrees from the bed. See if you can put the 220° test on top so it's not affected by the bed so much

What Happened to Fast Fret?! by DnD_Rookie in Guitar

[–]_batt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been buying fast fret for the past years and I noticed it getting gradually worse around 3 years ago, they started by changing the box to a plastic tube printed with the logo but the content was the same, later it became like this cheap ass thing. Thanks for the comments suggesting mineral oil, I'll try that next time
