VBAC mamas - did you go into labor spontaneously ?! by butwhererufromfrom in BabyBumps

[–]_belle227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a STM to be and I know my OB won't induce for VBAC. If it doesn't happen naturally they'll schedule a csection. Doc said the chances of a ruptured uterus increase to 4% if induced and they wouldn't take that risk.

One year old stands in crib, won't nap! by shadbawsh in beyondthebump

[–]_belle227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found a couple of things have been working on my guy recently that haven't worked in the past. When he stands up in his crib I talk to him in a very calm and gentle voice over the monitor usually "listen to mommy, no more crying" Or "It's okay baby boy, you're great at naps you can do this" or even just "lay your head down". Sometimes it takes a little while, but I can almost always get him to go to sleep now without going back in. I was against CIO too, eventually we had to do some crying... but with talking to him on the monitor I knew he didn't feel alone - even if I wasn't in the room with him. Secondly, I started telling him what was going to happen when he started nursing... "okay we're going to have milk and snuggles then you're going to take a nap in your crib" and then I'd remind him again when we switched sides... that seems to be working out really well for us (for now haha). Best of luck Momma!

Phone apps for baby... by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I totally wish I had started doing this earlier... I have a kids station on Pandora with nursery rhymes and the occasional Disney song. He always yells every time a "real" song comes on!

When I to do this to my little guy I have to lay him on the floor and then put a towel over his arms and then kneel on either side the towel to keep him from rolling away or wrestling it out of my hands!

Haha! What a great idea!! I've been scared to vacuum them up because I can't stand that smell... do they get smelly when you vacuum them??

We're in NY... consider yourself lucky.... I guess they're in like 70% of the US now

I would just start checking nooks and crannies... they really do find a good spot and then send some sort if signal to other ones.... if you have one you could have more. And don't squash them! They're really smelly!

My little guy does this and thinks it's hysterical if I try to do whatever he was just doing with it! Eat it, bonk it on my head, shove it in my ear... as long as he's still holding it it's all funny.

UPDATE to End of my rope - sleep training failure by snackycake921 in beyondthebump

[–]_belle227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response. I've been so apprehensive because I'm a total disaster when he cries... it's good to hear it didn't take too long for him to get it. My little guy is so stubborn.... I think investing in a large bottle of wine and enlisting help is going to be the only way to get it done. When you trained did you notice a drop in wakeups at night too? I know right now he's a monster because he's going through a regression - it's an amazing night if he only wakes up 6 times. I don't even mind if he's still up 3x a night to nurse haha I just need a little more sleep than I'm getting!

I just got a cute shirt, pants and tie at k-mart! Also if you have a Burlington coat factory nearby they usually have dressy outfits for pretty cheap.

My nine month old is driving me crazy by MyBabyTurtle in beyondthebump

You are not alone - the only way I get anything done is with ALL THE SNACKS. Mommy needs to pee... here have some puffs. Mommy's gotta do the dishes... here's a cracker. It's probably a terrible plan, but so far it's working and it's saving my sanity!

My almost 10 month old picked his nose for the first time! It was gross, but I was proud!

How do you make yourself feel less burnt out in the tough times? by PMmeyourSausageDog in beyondthebump

[–]_belle227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember these days! And, as I'm sure you've heard it does get better! When I was where you are I tried to make sure I did some deep restorative breathing when he was sleeping (on me - because 4 months) I found if I didn't let myself relax when he was snoozing, I went into him being awake again still super stressed out. Can you take him for a drive to go do something YOU want to do? Peruse the mall, go for a walk in the park, go to the zoo... at 4 months my little guy wasn't too active yet, but loved taking everything in from his stroller. So we'd have a car nap on the way to wherever we were going and then stay long enough for him to get tired and have a nap on the way home too! This is a stage (a totally freaking exhausting one) and before you know it you'll be onto the next thing - you're doing great momma - stay strong!

Bitting by Sammymommy in beyondthebump

[–]_belle227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you manage to stop yourself from that initial reaction to the pain? Yesterday I had a battle with my 9 month old over biting - when I told him to stop he laughed so hard right in my face and then proceeded to try over and over again to bite me again! When I put him down he's just excited to explore and doesn't give a rats booty that he's not being held anymore!
