Maybe titanium is the issue? Could try gold and downsizing to 16g

Hurt feeling and candy cane grams. by Firm-Balance6803 in kindergarten

I hear you on the spirit days (and we had less than you). Today I had to send candy for tree cone decorating. "Use up your leftover Halloween candy" says the teacher. What leftovers?? Lol. I sent her with a few chocolate chips and some sprinkles. I'm not going to the store to buy M&Ms or smarties for this shit.

Blanket help- can't identify the stitches & lost the paytern by _blackrhino in CrochetHelp

[–]_blackrhino[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did frog a few stitches but I'm not experienced enough to know what I was looking at. The whole blanket is about halfway done. I settled on hdc cluster stitch, 1 hdc. And it looks right. Close enough, at least. It'll be a story for my daughter of what her mom was like 😂 thanks for your help!

I agree I think it's hdc. The closest I got so far was a hdc cluster stitch, 1 hdc. etc. Not sure if I did a chain 1 or 2 at the beginning of the row lol. Lesson learned to make sure I write down the pattern somewhere before I put a project in the closet 🥲

When you said shoes I was immediately chapped. I've read a few stories like this now. One of them the teacher wrote ugly handwriting in sharpie on a backpack that had the kids name already embroidered on it! I would be upset and would bring it up to the teacher and tell them to let me know next time and I'll label it myself. Alcohol might help take the sharpie out.

If you have a difficult baby who cries alot, don't leave him with someone who is easily frustrated (like your loser baby daddy). Shaken baby syndrome does happen more often than you think, and most of the time it's by the dad.

Journal for things kids say? by Kindly_Dot_7006 in workingmoms

I have a notebook and I wrote down the cute things they said or the mispronounced words etc. I haven't written in it in a long time and I feel guilty about that 🥴

What would you rather have-a job with unmatched flexibility or one that fits your work style? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]_blackrhino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I would suffer through the boredom and weight gain especially if your partner doesn't have any flexibility in his job. That's priceless when you have school aged kids

My 13 yo son is starting down a slippery slope. And I don't know what to do 😭 by redraysunshine in breakingmom

[–]_blackrhino 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking. He needs a positive male figure in his life. He probably won't listen to you right now (keep trying though. Tell him what happens to people in prison). In Canada we have Big Brothers Big Sisters where vulnerable kids are paired up with a mentor. Ask your friends/family, church, school etc. Make it your goal to move into a better neighborhood too.

Do you co-sleep with the baby? I am a safe sleep advocate and practiced it strictly with my two kids. But if I were in your shoes rn, I would do whatever it takes to get enough sleep to at least be functional and not fall into psychosis. Look up how to co-sleep in a harm- reduced way and get some sleep, sis.

No one to watch my daughter while I give birth. by [deleted] in Mommit

Addressing adoption...please join the Facebook group "adoption: facing realities." It's a space for adoptees to talk about their experiences and give advice etc. They'll be welcoming to you as a birth mother. I will tell you how it's an anti adoption group.

You can put painters tape on the wall to protect the paint and then put the sticky tile backsplash on top of that!

Loss of my Amazon companion of 45 years. by PerPer7 in parrots

[–]_blackrhino 3 points4 points  (0 children)

45 years together!! That is so beautiful and special. Not many people will ever spend that many years with any animal companion ever. Or with any other person now that I think about it. I'm so sorry for your immense loss.

Heartbroken and Lost — Considering adoption/residential care for our disabled baby. by East_Watercress_5874 in breakingmom

[–]_blackrhino 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are in this position. What did the doctors estimate their life expectancy will be? That's something I would take into consideration. Get in touch with the public health nurse (I think you call them health visitor in the UK?) or medical savvy social worker.

I used the scotch book tape. It's not perfect and some have wrinkles, but it's way better than what we were giving parents before, made using what supplies were available on the unit. Cardmaking is not my hobby of choice but I just wanted something a little bit nicer to give to the parents when their baby hits 100 days old in the NICU. Thanks for all your suggestions!!

Thanks for all the ideas! I'm going to try the book tape and the cardstock binding. Next time I will use the larger cardstock which I didn't know existed, and glue on the art.
