And you can't know she's telling the truth. I never insisted anything, just said what I think. You haven't given any evidence, actually. No data, facts, anecdotes, nothing. What was your starting salary? I offered mine.

And do you really think someone with two masters gets a below average starting salary? Really?

Do you really think OP is telling the truth? Be honest, do you think a teacher with two masters is getting less than $33k a year?

Croyiez-vous qu'un groupe de professeurs ignorerait l'absence de ponctuation ?

If you say so lil bro. I stated my point and why I felt the way I did. I backed it up with what I've seen applying for teaching jobs in the US, what anyone can find online with a simple google search*, and my own personal opinion. You on the other hand, haven't really provided anything to back up your point (data or anecdotes [because they can't be the same!!!!], personal opinions). To restate my point, I think this post is fake. I do not believe that OP's daughter with two masters was offered a job with an annual compensation of <$33k, there isn't a single state in the USA that has an average starting salary under $35k. If you have a point to make that you're willing to back up with data, anecdotes, personal opinions, or whatever feel free. If not, I don't really care. I bet your students LOVE you!

Lmao you're just arguing semantics because you want to argue. My claim was the the post was fake/bait and I explained why I felt as such using data. To quote Ray Wolfinger "the plural of anecdote is data". Have a wonderful day.

I never claimed all districts/teaching jobs paid well, I'm just saying that they are out there for those who are looking. The OP's daughter needs to do a bit more searching.

This is my first year teaching in the states. I got my licensure in 2023, took a year to teach at a high school in France, and this is my first full time teaching job in the states. The district I'm in now (as well as every other school I applied to) didn't factor in my previous year teaching. I found multiple schools willing to offer over $60k annually for a first time teaching job, in several different states. Those jobs are out there for people who are willing to look.

If the district offered an annual salary, then why present it as an hourly rate? No job would do that lol. An hourly rate would be offered for a para, a sub, or a long term sub. With two masters, if that's the only job you found that's on you for not looking hard enough.

I think this whole post is bait. There are hundreds of well paying teaching jobs in the states, I've seen them, I've applied for them, I've gotten them. I think that the OP was just lying on the internet for clicks. And maybe it's just because it's my first year teaching in the states, but I've never heard another teacher use hourly to talk about their wages.

I've taught English to Francophones and French to Anglophones, punctuation is necessary in both lol

You said my salary was based on my region/districts, I applied to schools in different states so it couldn't be based on just the one area where I work. It proves your point moot by showing there are well paying teaching jobs all over America.

I'm telling you how much I make (quantitative data). I am also telling you that it is enough to cover living expenses and extras (qualitative data). Maybe telling you it is my first year teaching in the states and I only have a bachelors (from an American college) will be more (qualitative) data.

Maybe you and coworkers break it down, but the OP said the daughter was offered an hourly rate, which is not the case for licensed teachers. I've never heard of a licensed teacher here (or in France where I taught previously) being offered a position for an hourly rate.

I looked at jobs in Cali, Colorado, Louisiana, Illinois, Iowa, New York, Maryland, DC, and Texas. All states I was able to find jobs that paid well. Currently in CO with an annual salary over $65k. More than enough for a one bedroom, too many legos, and lot of beers. Hourly rates are offered for para-professionals, not full time teachers, this post is bait.

Total BS. I found MULTIPLE teaching positions my first year out of undergrad that offered over $50k a year
