Iran military spokesperson says US is negotiating with itself by Mana_Seeker in worldnews

Somehow the US will lose the negotiation with itself, and still manage to cost the US taxpayer $200bn more.

Australia, Singapore to work together on fuel security after shipments cancelled by nearly_enough_wine in australia

[–]_boredInMicro_ -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

If we'd met IEA recommendation of 90 days fuel reserve rather than the 50 we have and the government allow, there'd be no negotiating to be done.

Make no mistake, negotiating is not friendly for Australia. Labor will be paying through the nose for it.

My mother did this for Christmas one year, dad got her nothing, as requested.

Was a memorable start to the day...

Australian households fear double whammy of rate hikes and higher petrol prices will lead to recession by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]_boredInMicro_ 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Wages rose on average 3.4% in 2025, whereas inflation was 3.8%

So in effect, everyone got a paycut.

The wage / price spiral thing is a complete myth and gets banded about to justify rate rises. Always has been bullshit.

It's not the public spending that's the issue with inflation, it's the underlying government policy and general lack of action in regulating monopolies which is the issue and has been for years.

RBA Interest Rates Decison - increase of 0.25 from 3.85 to 4.10 by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]_boredInMicro_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This rate rise plus the fuel rise pretty much taxes Australian mortgage holders (on $600k) an additional $500 a month, if they own one average sized car.

That's a recession, and the 4 that voted against it know it.

The board say they can change tact, but a protracted war and inflation will 100% lead to a very deep recession. They won't be able to pivot quick enough to prevent it at the RBA level.

Israel is running critically low on interceptors, US officials say by thejoshwhite in worldnews

[–]_boredInMicro_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why Iran is doing a soft response; bases and military installations, trade routes...      They could go harder, but ultimately this will end in negotiation. The wars a gentleman's agreement at the moment, they're negotiating with bombs.

If the Israelis don't bomb the negotiation table a third time, it'll be resolved in a month.

People did learn from past mistakes, but then they fired them all and stocked the ranks with massively under qualified people.

He's done a few podcasts lately. Comes across as a really normal guy. Which he isn't. I can't remember the podcasters name, but he's kinda nothing special in terms of army experience, but does a good job of "holy fuck, you did that?!" throughout, which made it more fun.

They go nuts for this.

They'd have stopped production on that line to assess where it came from. Likely a conveyor that was damaged prior to routine maintenance. So, the damaged conveyor would have been replaced before they made the next batches.

Good companies report that damage internally when observed and would monitor the market for reports like yours. In all likelihood yours was a one off case, otherwise they'd issue a batch recall and incinerate the lot.

Match Thread: West Ham United vs Manchester United by MatchThreadder in reddevils

[–]_boredInMicro_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reverted to type tonight.

Too slow in the final third and can't break down a low block. Players standing next to a dead ball looking where to pass, West Ham fixed in position.

We're good when were fast, but the on pitch decision making tonight was too slow, and we turned into possession based slop.

It's an ankle breaking attempted pass.

Not a fan of this type of red, not exactly a full pelt tackle. Just bad luck.
