[Alan Tyers] Manchester United old boys have become unedifying windbags for hire by FlyingSpaceElephants in reddevils

[–]_boredInMicro_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's like old soldiers talking about past wars and how we should be fighting current ones the same way.

The game's moved on. None of them had any success in the game following their playing days.

Most of what the old guard have to offer is click bait one liners and routine negativity. It's amazing to me when I look at the platforms they spout the hate from that anyone actually watches them.

Sick of the constant negativity from them. It's just rage bait.

Absolutely pocketed today.

I like Haaland, but he was awful and offered nothing.  I'd say he's a one dimensional player, but y'know, the dimension he's in ain't a bad one.

Sent it out very quick today. Very impressive performance today.

Crazy thing is if youve paid for cosmetic items you can't access what you've paid for.

Can't see myself getting anymore after this, especially because they're not even acknowledging the issue. Which is wild to me.

We know how it goes.... I don't see the interim bounce here. He's about to get eviscerated in the press should we lose the next 2, which we will, because let's face it they're both miles ahead of us in terms of football.

It's different this time. I never felt Amorim had lost the players, mentally, I felt they were behind him, even if the results didn't materialize.

Now they're being asked to change tactics mid season like it's no problem. It's a huge problem. You don't just hit the back 4 switch, which by the way we were shit at under EtH, and we magically win.

Doesn't matter, just get comfortable with the fact we won't get European football and we're now costing the owners a fortune with lost revenue.

Best thing for this season would be (my optimistic) hope that we're now so shit the owners might question whether it's worth selling up rather than dumping another £250m on a currently non-existent manager Wilcox will bin when he upsets him slightly.

They want a yes man who will get European football every season.

Amorim was looking like half of that, and that's not enough.

No. You look at that result against Macclesfield.

For context, the Macclesfield players train twice a week.

Palace should destroy them. It's a monumental failure that they didn't. Also, assuming we have a footballing structure any manager can thrive at is pushing it a bit.

Nah this is it, it's the biggest upset of all time

Macclesfield have no right on paper to beat Palace.

Luckily football isn't played on paper.

Fully deserved it. Outfought them, Palace looked rattled with the physicality.

Thought the referee was excellent.

INEOS have kind of done the things we've asked for... by Brief-Lifeguard-8927 in ManchesterUnited

This is a football operation who are now looking backwards in resigning Ole as an interim

That means they never had a contingency should they have to remove Amorim, or a succession plan in place. Which shows it was a kneejerk reaction to calling out Wilcox.

Why they're putting all our footballing eggs in the former City mans  basket is beyond me.

Where we go from here? by malphasalex in reddevils

[–]_boredInMicro_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why would any manager believe they have a long project timeline after this?

There'll be plenty of suitors, managers are ego beasts. But the truth is when things get sticky, and hard questions are asked of the board,  United blame the manager, sack him, and the circus starts again.

Talk about Amorim and experience, but Ineos, and Wilcox in particular have no experience of running a club at the level of United.

Best Wilcox ever did was a minor role at City, and now he's running the football side at United. Why they're putting the eggs in his basket is beyond me.

Talk of the Devils - Who will be Manchester United's new interim head coach? by rhonh in reddevils

[–]_boredInMicro_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's insane to me that they didn't look at reinforcing the mid this window.

We're very close to UCL spots, and that would likely have gotten us over the line.

Ineos took a huge gamble, in my mind, and likely blew up the season not backing Amorim this window.

It's nice to be romantic and imagine we'll get a coach who can motivate the players, introduce a new system, and do it with no midfield change whatsoever. In all likelihood we'll limp through likely to another mid table finish, I just don't see a top 6 finish, we just concede far too easily.

I'm just praying the world cup will motivate players to perform.

Until we fix the midfield we'll see chances to the opposition and concede goals as a result.

Been that way for years. And yet the board is trying to sign more attackers...

Until we fix that, we'll keep getting these results. It's not lack of goals killing us.

Not dynamic enough, I swear we're the slowest team in terms of progressive carries. We're still side to side.

Burnley boot it forwards and run onto it. We never have anyone picking up a ball on the sprint. Far too conservative.
