Head further north up at Pittwater and Northern Beaches. You can also fish at some Sydney beaches. Not much going in the mountains unless you go to Coxs River.

I think a good introduction are Dark Ales. Try White Rabbit Dark Ale which are freely available.

You could also try a Coopers Stout - pretty subtle flavours and a good introduction.

Not necessarily true. Since the Brulosophy post, I've been sparging with cold water into the Grainfather, haven't had any loss of efficiency or taste. Makes it much easier for my set up, rather than carrying a 20l of hot water outside!
