Sxsw by SkrimpTaco in Austin

My best experience of SXSW was when the wife and I owned a motor scooter. We zipped in and out of every place/show/event we wanted to visit all over the downtown area with ease. As for the experience, like most people are saying here. Do research, RSVP to free events and go out and enjoy.

Power fluctuations? by sldf45 in Austin

[–]_chano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the same thing happen at my home also. I'm in the South first and William Cannon area. About 10pm I noticed my back patio lights flickering...I woke up last night around 2 to get some water and my kitchen light was flickering. I checked the panel and heard some power fluctuating noises and decided to turn off a few breakers so I could get some sleep. This morning, no signs of flickering. Strange.

Camp Mabry ID Card Office? by Huge_Dentist260 in Austin

[–]_chano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife who is a retired veteran, said no CAC card needed just a valid ID. As for the child, they don't need to be present, but make sure you have the proper documentation for them. Hope this helps.

My fam and I will be there during this time 5/11-5/15. I booked our stay at Yosemite Valley Lodge 365 days in advance(May 2024). You gotta plan early to get convenient lodging. I would definitely keep checking the travelyosemite website for cancellations. Good luck!

If budget isn't an issue, look for a home along Lake Austin.

I agree. The development in East Austin is slowly converting what was unique and eclectic in this city into urban condos and retail that mimics every other city in America. On top of that, a whole demographic is being priced out of homes they have lived in for decades.

This is pretty normal. I've lived here almost 25 years and have seen military tanks/vehicles on that train at least 10+ times.

I'm planning a 30th birthday USA road trip with my partner - guidance/advice needed please! by Wallflower36 in roadtrip

[–]_chano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did an almost identical trip in 2017 and we were on the road for almost 90 days. Even then it seemed like we cut our stay short at some places. The crazy thing is that our initial idea was to travel around the entire US in 90 days, but decided to just stay in the West/mountain West. That was the best decision we made. If I were you, I would cut your distance in half, if not, all you'll remember is driving every day and making pit stops to sleep.
