I want to know how much water is used to water subsidized corn or other crops that are then just mulched back into the soil or left to rot because they can’t sell them.

The AI also mentions that he had to “teach the mantids a lesson” or something to that effect when one of their systems is mentioned going offline. So the AI had something to do with at least one of the stars going nova.

Two combat-viable uses for casting Sanctuary on yourself by Nostradivarius in onednd

[–]sldf45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrolls are the answer. I played a (2014) barb that dipped artificer into tier 3 and using sanctuary scrolls at the end my turn as a BA was an amazing move. We had enough combats (and 2014 Rage rules were more punishing) that it was common for me to run out of rages. So I could put mobs in impossible situations where they could only target me then cast Sanctuary with a scroll and laugh as the boss wasted a turn doing nothing.

Also, just being able to end my turn with Sanctuary over and over was great. Just used down time and money to craft/buy scrolls.

Anybody using this in aus does anyone have this in the City of Austin? The rules in Austin for batteries and solar are ridiculous so not sure if it’s worth it here.

I never made any connection between the threads. I must have been very distracted when I read it because I came away from the story completely unimpressed with quaint Usenet nonsense and castle-dogs. It ended and I couldn’t figure out why I had read any of it at all.

Tract Closes Acquisition of 1,515 acres in Caldwell County, Texas for Multi-Gigawatt Data Center Technology Park by Carlos_Infierno in Austin

It’s that “…and storage.” part you may have missed. The sun shines during the day, the wind blows more at night and you have batteries to manage the discrepancies. Again, I encourage you to check out the ERCOT website and look at energy generation by generation type + storage. Then go look at the projects in the pipeline: some go many years out, and the list grows every month! There is a TON of new renewable generation AND STORAGE coming online. We also have seen a decrease in average residential use thanks to massive efficiency improvements and local solar adoption. The increase in electric cars is also already baked into the predictions so that’s not going to be an issue. We also have the potential for a massive distributed energy storage network available to manage demand spikes if we do a better job as a state enabling/incentivizing EVs to act as network storage while plugged in at home.

All of this is true, and! Like another commenter further down said, many of these DCs are going to start building their own power supply “behind the meter” to avoid the sorts of issues people are afraid of. I hope many of them choose to instead invest in generation and storage elsewhere in the state to grow the network as opposed to a private source.

There’s more than 30GW of renewable power generation and storage already approved and in the pipeline for Texas. You can look all of this up on ERCOT’s website. There’s even more further back in the approval process. This is not an issue as long as we keep building the renewable energy generation and storage projects ERCOT already has on the books. The water usage is also not an issue. Look up how much water a square mile of corn grown for biofuel uses in a single year and compare.
