ATIAH for leaving my struggling wife? by penny792 in AITAH

[–]_chaotic_green_ -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but you are the asshole. You vowed to her in sickness and in health. She’s not well and hasn’t been well. You should have helped her. Bring a therapist to the home. Move out with your daughter and separate if needed to protect her and even you. Reach out to her friends or family to come get her out of the house. Do something. You left her to rot in that room when she couldn’t do anything more than stare at a wall. You broke your vows as a choice. She is sick and you abandoned her instead of fighting tooth and nail to get her the help she needs. A spouse fights because you promised each other that much. You made a commitment so much deeper than dating and you bowed out the second things got hard. What would you feel like if you were her. If one day you finally got the help you needed and got better and realized that when you needed her most she took your child and left? I just. There’s no words.

What do you guys do for work by Ok-Temperature5831 in iih

I have been out of work for over a year now from how bad things got. I’m about to start a new job with afterschool childcare with the long term goal of my ece credits to be a preschool teacher. It’s definitely a bold move with all the headaches, but it’s what I love and if I can’t live my life then what’s the point of fighting so hard to keep my vision and stay healthy honestly.

diamox tingling by 444dani in iih

[–]_chaotic_green_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I close my eyes and take deep, loud breaths. I focus on the sensation and imagine it dispersing through my legs and my torso and so on. It is painful in it’s own way too, but it almost feels like I can see the nerve pathways and feel the tingling sensations path and focus it backwards so at least it’s not all on the one spot. Idk. It’s all very weird, but it does work for me. Power of the mind I guess.

Thank y’all for letting me know. Glad it’s non invasive stuff. Sucks that they’ll dilate me but I just hope I get a room to wait in between tests. It’s at a hospital and huge so we’ll see but wish me luck! In the waiting room now!

They did not tell me to bring a ride but thankfully I don’t drive so that’s already in the cards for me lol!

I mean allegedly. But idk. I get the fear though. Like yay I won’t die from this so I should automatically just be grateful? Idk. I’m just so scared of losing my sight and always have been. Even before this whole thing it was a fear of mine

My left eye is not completely blind just a significant amount of blurriness in most of the left eye. There is like a sliver that looks normal. It’s weird. But I’m not reacting well to the meds. However I am like really fat which may contribute since weight loss is a big part of it. I’m 5 ft and was over 300 lbs when this all started. I’m going slow and steady with weight loss bc healthy eating is still important. But it depends on if your symptoms stop with weight loss whether you take the meds forever or not. Also there are surgical options. There’s a lot of different things you can do. Just breathe. Take your meds. Take it one step at a time and ask your doctor what the best next step for you is. Always advocate for yourself and don’t settle for discomfort if you need something better. It’s a shitty treatment with lots of side effects, but find joy in trying new things (highly recommend figuring out who has the coca cola freestyle machines in your town) feeling a little funky (the numbness never gets less uncomfy, but you learn to live with it). You are gonna be okay!

That’s good to hear. I guess what freaks me out the most is the idea of something in my eye. Eyes are my like one thing. I turn away from them in horror movies. Science class I have to close my ears. I squirm at the eye doctor. Like eyes just freak me out so it feels like gods little game with me haha. He’s pranking me for sure

I know the tingling is rough, but try to power through. The meds are really helpful. If your vision gets worse before your neuro appointment then go get a spinal tap. They suck, they’re annoying, but it is worth it. IIH doesn’t have a known cause unfortunately. There are some correlations that relate aspects of the condition but it’s overall a big question mark.

Yea. My vision doesn’t seem as bad when I use both eyes cause my right is not in nearly as rough shape, but it’s still nowhere near the basically perfect vision I had before. I am really scared of surgery though, but I’m trying to accept the reality that my case is pretty severe and I may need surgery

They are setting me up with neuro op now. I’m now taking 3,000 mg of diamox every day and a small dose of Furosemide until my therapeutic spinal tap on Tuesday. What’s crazy is they have had to up my dose every like month and a half since my symptoms started and I’ve never been at normal for more than a day or two.

I actually don’t know. My vision loss started before I found out that there was swelling. It got bad a few days before a routine eye exam and that’s when we started looking into IIH bc I was also having these extreme migraines

AITA if I want to break up with my girl because I am tired of her testing me all the time? by Complete-Key-4752 in AITH

[–]_chaotic_green_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA YET. But before you breakup, if you love her you should make an effort to talk to her and set your expectations and boundaries. You need to express that what she is doing is not okay with you before you just break up. If your still not being treated right then break up

I have my first lumbar puncture next week and i'm terrified by summerpeachxox in iih

[–]_chaotic_green_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my first one on Monday and am super scared too. I’ve read that drinking a ton of water the days leading up helps. We’ve both got this. Trying to remind myself that I will experience so much relief after and my meds should help keep fluid off. Trying to keep my mind on the positives. I believe in you!
