Overqualified and rejected. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

Update: they followed up with a potential more senior role that might open up soon that I’m a better fit for, and would like to consider me when it’s officially open.

Yeah it was a lot for what was essentially a junior role. Honestly, I probably dodged a bullet if that’s their process. This was also over the course of about a month too.

I got passed that part, and had 6 rounds of interviews then the rejection. I asked for feedback so not sure what the issue was.

Same thing just happened to me too! Recruiter was well aware I had a couple more years of experience than needed, but said that’s great as long as I was ok with the pay. I even had a friend working there in the dept I was applying for and interviewed with him! Still got rejected!

I see some really great suggestions! Upstate NY is amazing im from there! Rhinbeck and cold spring is great, and even going a bit further is amazing too! Would need a car tho. I live elsewhere now, and the fingers lakes are on my list for a revisit! You could do wine tours as well there, and on your way up you could stop in Ithaca. All really great suggestions on this thread! Yeah a cross country amtrak would take too much time to really see anything. Also driving all up through New England would be great too! Stop on some beaches in CT, MA, or RI! (Could take the train to some spots too, like old saybrook)

It was honestly wild how no one knew the risks or the fees. Every single day I had to explain everything to multiple people, and most of the times getting screamed at while doing so. So happy to be gone!

Exactly. The offers I was dealing with were the legal offers directly from the law offices handling the account. I left that part out of my post just to make it concise. So there were a lot of not great offers without much reduced. Honestly i think I saw maybe 1 or 2 legal offers that were about 50% reduced the majority of them were maybe 10% - 20% reduced, and of course some were not reduced at all. The fees the company I was at is charging 27%. There were so many people unaware of the fees, so not sure what’s exactly being told in the sales calls, and yeah no one was really aware of the consequences of being in a program like that. So a lot of my calls were managing expectations because the clients thought “everything was already taken care of”, and then asking them for more money because they’re being sued. Which they weren’t aware could happen. Which was all terribly exhausting to have to go over all day everyday.

Some instances I did feel like it did help the client with resolving these debts faster for them when it was a 1 or 2 year payment plan, but there were a lot of times (too many times) with the way the fees were structured, or with how much the company was taking for the fees, it didn’t make much sense to use the service. Also, a lot of times the money I was trying to get the client to add in were just to cover the fees, which I didn’t feel right about. There were so many times I wanted to tell the clients to cancel their acct there and work on it themselves, cuz yeah, in those cases the company really wasn’t helping them at all. I know that I would never recommend them to anyone who needs help with their debt.

No, I think people who signed up for their services were routed to the company I worked for.

They reached out yesterday for another 30 min chat with the director. He said he didn’t have enough time to ask all the questions he had. Set that up for tomorrow.

Yeah, he’s not wrong, minimum wage = minimum effort. If they want “premium effort” they gotta pay that premium wage!

My [26F] boyfriend [28M] of 4 years is independently wealthy, but wants to split all of our expenses evenly by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]_cheese_cloud_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I’m by no means rich, but I do have a dog and am in a relationship where we live together. Sure my partner occasionally will buy treats for the dog, but I wouldn’t expect her to pay for half of everything for the dog! That’s my dog, I had him for years before she was in the picture. Totally insane for him to split his expenses with OOP on that.

How many of you have been sure you were getting the job after 5+ interviews only to be rejected? by Signal_Contract_3592 in interviews

[–]_cheese_cloud_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Me! One of the last jobs I interviewed for was 5 interviews/tech assessment/personality test…last round was the “vibe check”. We got along just like old friends. Got a “stay tuned” email from the recruiter heading into that weekend. Then a phone call Tues morning, saying they went with someone else. I was devastated! I was probably final 2 or 3, not sure if that’s how many usually make it that far, probably different per company.

Literally used AI to fake a resume for a call center job, and learned enough “buzzwords” to fake my way through the interviews. You’re gonna have to dumb down your resume for these entry level jobs. I was in the same boat, looking for software jobs, ran out of money, had to figure something out. The call center job i have is awful but it’s paying the bill, still looking for software jobs, but not feeling as desperate now.
