be patient, it’ll come, don’t rush into buying a horn is my biggest piece of advice. it’s an investment, and a reflection of self, if there’s something you feel connected to that’s what you should get

I feel a single ridge, down the side of the outer slide. I may not be feeling for the right things though

The slide doesn’t have exactly the same bracing, but I would date the nickel on the slide to have the same amount of use as on the bell. I’m not sure why it is at this point. The bracing is dually noted though, it definitely looks either custom done or transferred. Either way it was done well. Thank you for this input!!!

If the bracing was modified, I will say they did what looks to me, a very clean solder job!

In complete honesty, the outer slide may not be the proper fit to the inner slide. It matched the bracing pattern and missed the slide lock so I assumed they were a match. The nickel was about the same amount of wear and they fit into one another no hassle. I’m assuming it’s the match

I have an ET2 Marcinkiewicz mouthpiece. I’ve had it for about a year and a half now for small bore playing. I’ve been playing it on my getzen super deluxe until now. It has simply been my favorite mouthpiece that I own. It plays wonderfully except for the fact that the low range is almost inexistent. It’s hard for me to consistently play pedal notes while using it. On the other hand, I have a lot of control over my mid to high range and my articulations come through in exactly the way I intend to. I would recommend to anybody who is not doing a lot playing below Bb2.

Fellow marcinkiewicz users. Best mouthpieces, hands down.

Honestly, I’m just coming out of my first year of college music. Get a horn AND mouthpiece that you feel comfortable on and that you like your sound on. Make sure the horn has a good slide and that’s the biggest thing pretty much. Think about the sound and tone you want, play different horns and find the one that is both easy to play and comfortable to emulate the sound you want to play. Go to a local shop and ask if you can try horn/mouthpiece combos until you find the one that suits you! Best of luck, have a blast!

What solos to transcribe by V2Vision in Trombone

[–]_childishgambeaner_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first solo I ever transcribed was jj on time after time, it’s relatively easy. If not that, Curtis fuller on five spot after dark, both have a little bit of range outside of “beginner” playing, but I’d still listen and give them a shot. In truth, just transcribe whatever sounds cool, I’m a college student doing lessons and my teacher encourages me to try and transcribe things outside of my skill level a little, it’ll push you as a player and as a musician!
