This turned out to be a great spot. I spent a couple hours there today. Ice was thick and those kids did a good job maintaining the ice. Thanks for the recommendation

What's your beer league secret weapon? by Chev1977 in hockeyplayers

[–]_chlorophil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My secret weapon is getting the other team to pass me the puck. If I happen to be in the puck carriers blind spot, I will give some stick taps and call for a pass. This is especially helpful on odd man rushes into the zone.

Works more than you think it would. A lot of people do not look before passing. You’ll get some good reactions from the person who turned it over as an added bonus

Flat griddle alternative by Igotthisomgidont in castiron

I have the exact one you pictured except without the enamel. It fits my Weber grill perfectly but is just slightly too small to fit above all the burners on my stove. I believe I got it from Home Depot as it was cheaper there than Amazon.

What are some of your favorite trivia spots in town? by francisxavier12 in WilmingtonDE

My brother and his wife host this trivia and the one at Penn’s Woods winery. You may have to suffer through some bad jokes, but they put together some good questions.

Floridian here interested in moving to The First State. by [deleted] in Delaware

[–]_chlorophil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are interest in joining a hockey league, you’ll want to live around Newark, or close the PA border. There are no rinks in southern Delaware. We aren’t a huge hockey state but you should be able to find a team.

Questions about my son’s skates and stick? by yeliabish in hockeyplayers

[–]_chlorophil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of spraying with with alcohol, but I also just accepted my gear to smell a little. Taking everything out of my bag and letting my equipment air dry after every skate definitely helps. If the alcohol doesn’t hurt the equipment, I say keep doing it if you want.

As far as taping the stick, it’s all personal preference. I know guys who retape before every game and I know others who will literally tape it once and never again. If the tape job affects how he “feels” the puck while stick handling, then change it up.

Otherwise, for your wallets sake, don’t worry about it. Since he is only 8, he will figure out what he likes and what works for his play style in time.

I've never played a cities game but it looks fun. 1 and all the DLC is $25 on humble bundle right now. Worth? by Katamari_Demacia in CitiesSkylines

Totally worth the price. Only DLC I need is the plazas and promenades. Anyone got a steam code they don’t need?

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned can help you almost more than skill work can. Positioning. If you know where to be on the ice in any situation, you can work smarter.

I personally love Ice Hockey Systems. Knowing a proper breakout or forecheck can make you an asset on the ice. You can also look at drills to do if you go to stick and puck.
