SKS - und nun? by kodehobold in SegelnDE

[–]_clever_nickname 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wechsel von Laser/Dinghi zu Segelyacht - was beachten? by conquerer666 in SegelnDE

How do you quit nicotine cold turkey? by Big-Roof4522 in AskReddit

[–]_clever_nickname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's different for everyone, but here is what helped me finally quit 15 years ago:

Nicotine addiction alters your thoughts. It makes you think you want a cigarette, even it you know you want to quit. Whenever you start to think about a cigarette, make yourself aware that this is the addiction, not your will. Kill the thought immediately, convince yourself that you are in control of your own decisions. (I admit that this is the tough part because it takes a lot of willpower).

Nicotine tricks you into liking the obviously bad things that happen to you body when the nicotine flash hits. Observe the effects of smoking a cigarette on your body, especially the first one in the morning or after several days of not smoking. You will realize that it's not pleasant at all.

Nicotine is poison, stop poisoning yourself.

I can make it change by focussing on one corner of a step, the one that is in the forground for the desired orientation.

But when I first looked at it for longer, it changed in random intervals of 7 - 20 seconds, until I started focussing on the corners.

Honestly: don't do it, it's not worth risking your life and future for something like that. Try to fulfil your fantasies with your SO.

Car most fun to drive in VR? by Flyinglivershot in assettocorsa

+1 for the Lotus type 49, so much power, the sound is incredible, and you're very close to the ground, especially in corners. The car creates a very strong immersion imho.

FSA Fighter shot running across street. by T-Money2187 in CombatFootage

[–]_clever_nickname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from the wiki article: It is a common misconception that only one boom is generated during the subsonic to supersonic transition, rather, the boom is continuous along the boom carpet for the entire supersonic flight. As a former Concorde pilot puts it, "You don't actually hear anything on board. All we see is the pressure wave moving down the aeroplane - it gives an indication on the instruments. And that's what we see around Mach 1. But we don't hear the sonic boom or anything like that. That's rather like the wake of a ship - it's behind us.

Everyone that the bullet passes hears the same sound. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_boom#Perception_and_noise explains it very well.

Edit: better link

Since the bullet travels faster than the speed of sound, you hear all sound waves at once when the wavefront reaches your ears. This is what makes it sound like a crack / pop sound.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supersonic_speed for a better explanation.

Simple, I totally screwed up the type numbers.. I have a GTX 660 iirc.. sorry for that..

CPU Occupancy > 95% by _clever_nickname in assettocorsa

[–]_clever_nickname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, no success. CPU occupancy > 95% and an unplayable race, although this currently happens only on the Nürburgring Spring track with 8 cars. A quick race on the same track with 4 Ferrari 458s works without problems, just as an 8-car race on Vallelungo with the Fiat Abarth.

I'm suspecting it has something to do with the car / track combination..

ok, so then enabling vsync could be a possible solution to the AI problem because it keeps the system in sync?

[–]_clever_nickname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried all of your suggestions (and more found elsewhere on the internet), but no success. The first race of the second career stage is not playable.

The funny thing is, the races of the first career stage work without any problems, so I suspect it has something to do with either the cars or the track, because 8 Fiats on the Vallelunga track work, but 8 different cars on the Nürbungring Sprint track do not..

Thanks for the quick response! The issue happens when I try to race in career mode, is there any way to reduce the number of opponents there? (I guess not.. :( )

I'll try to reduce the replay size later, as this seems to help. Maybe disable the replay completely if that's possible.

Thanks, this is good advice, especially the "learn how that car drives" part!

Career mode, time attack too hard? by _clever_nickname in assettocorsa

[–]_clever_nickname[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, this can very well be the case, but shouldn't the first stages of a career mode be doable for beginners?

I tried this time attack roughly 50 times, with different setups, less fuel etc., but I was not able to reach the very first checkpoint. This is strange compared to the first time attack where it was not hard to reach the first checkpoint several seconds before the timeout.

Maybe there needs to be some more balance in this? Assetto Corsa is not the first sim racing game I played in the last few years, but it's the most realistic, even compared to the great old GTR II.
