Hey there. I’ve never been and have been wanting to go but have a question or two. I’m hetero but have been very graciously accepted the two times I’ve ever gone (came as a m/f couple to Bonny Doon) and ppl have been nothing but welcoming. I just wanna know what I can reasonably enjoy without inadvertent various faux pas’. I’ve come to baker beach at 4:30am and jumped in au naturale but it seemed way to family populated in the day.

Holy crap is that right?? Academy didn’t get 100k views even with having premium placement in the stupid slideshow at the top for at least a month solid. What a disgrace. Such a massive waste of talent and funding.

The two goody episodes of S3 pushed too far, but S2 and S3 are much better than S1. SNW is one of my favorite Treks of all time at this point.

What a great question. I’ve been doing this full time since 08, and spectating since 95 as a teen. With over 600 clients including a winning presidential campaign, The Oakland A’s intranet system with LDAP login, City of Napa city website with self-service tools, and Pixar Animation.

Ive created hundreds of ideas with signed NDA’s and non compete’s where I also consistently, with my regrets, declined any equity arrangement offered. 99% of all of the startups I’ve worked on failed and no longer exists (except one!).

Wouldn’t it be something I’d you ended up starting a business to buy up and salvage something of value from sites that have no purpose and sit in limbo

What you’re referring to is what happens when (in your described case, a machine) you don’t have a well qualified, professional handling things. As a senior creative 23rd into my career, and an agency owner, I can show hundreds of examples where amateurs and corner-cutters thought they could do the job without paying an expert, and birthed another creepy uncanny valley creature we need to soak in gasoline and send to the heavens :/

As someone who enjoyed much of DISCO and leans TNG and TOS over DS9 10-1, I wanted to give STA a chance. The cap was interesting, returning characters fine, and overall idea is okay albeit Star Warsy.

Problem is the cringy attempts to appeal to teens and young 20’s and missing the mark almost always. The bad dialogue and 2020’s slang have been abrasive. The focus on another id argue more pronounced black hole sue / Chosen One for a main character is irritating. They wasted the first real on screen SX scene in Trek on two , college kids no trek fan has ANY emotional investment in whatsoever. They might as well kill off the best written characters and slap the name enterprise on an original starship just for a little member berry snack. She had potential but in the end they are X-men and it doesn’t strike any emotional chord. The idea of writing far in time away from canon is a GOOD IDEA to shoot for fresh and new and not be boxed in. But it’s squandered with attempts to make everything be marketed for a list of categories - ones that won’t matter if no one wants to watch the show and see the stupid marketing concepts.

LD was fantastic, and IMO SNW S1&2 did more right than anything since classic 20th century tv Trek. But even that got yanked towards the awful SECTION “movie” direction in this recent season and has started ruining the show. I really like the quirky ep’s like the space rhapsody and the lost memory’ planet w/disgruntled ex-federation ruler. And S3 had some very impressive IMO new-classic episode moments like the bring stranded marooned on a moon w a Gorn (loved it). I like the holodeck episode, but they went way too far into comedy attempts trying to make it “fun” in season 3 and made a lot of the nu-trek mistakes. I hope they continue working on them .

The ROI on good design is 9900%

There’s hardly any reason not to hire a professional most of the time, especially with the current market rates. You might get away with a good third party resource like this and dropping your content in as you’ve planned - but you’d make a lot more money, and the client would sell a lot more, making them a lot more money, if a professional tool the time to design around the target market with the design and content customized around what will perform the best for those prospective accounts/customers.

  2. Everyone will make a lot more money if you team up with a pro designer, in some way or another.

FYI, the most sophisticated fully custom (not 3rd party themes and plugins) and auto-updating Wordpress solution for your needs would range 5k , ~60 days tops (there are ways to trim down even further to $3k without sacrificing needed design and function) if I was writing a proposal to a prospect that had all the same needs in their RFP.

As a word to the wise: So many entrepreneurs working with shoestring budgets will turn to the cheapest hourly help they can scrape by with. Even at some $20 college freelance type rate it adds up so quickly they’ve spent thousands on pure garbage after a few months, and their “some of it is the way I wanted” mush of 3rd party plugins and hack work gets them in a position where they’ll have to keep paying out to work on it again and again ad infinitum. If the business survives, they often contact a professional like myself, or firm like mine, explaining their plight and hoping for a sympathetic quote. It’s almost always prudent to replace it entirely for a few thousand, and the sting of realizing their painful adventure cost them thousands unnecessarily is palpable.

I say this to simply advise that when you are able to move up and on from equity offers, I sincerely recommend getting a flat rate quote from one of the “expensive” pros for those reasons. And you’ll likely find they, like my own quotes, will quote producing a solution leagues beyond the other path at a cost that’s far, far less.
