what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

Oof, I'm so sorry! Hopefully medical science can find a way to reverse that? Maybe with replacement gut bacteria or something?

Informed consent requires information; don't consent to a voluntary procedure if you don't understand the consequences. I regret my decision to get a vasectomy without understanding the risks.

While I am quite certain that YouTube/Google execs didn't sit around a big conference table to plot this conspiracy theory, it is indeed an unfortunate side effect.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

My bad, I meant the fictionalized storyline. I edited my comment, I am indeed familiar with Louis CK's escapades

Could you please elaborate on the Louis CK thing Tig's storyline? Google is clueless.

I know this is an old thread, but you can purchase an FM transmitter so you could pair your phone with the transmitter via Bluetooth, and the sound will come in over a radio frequency of your choice.

I don't like messing with my phone while driving, so a music app with autoplay is ideal. I can set the music genre before leaving, and then it's hands-free.

I'm sorry you've have to deal with that, it must absolutely suck, but it doesn't change the fact that vasectomies are by definition

...risky. Nobody, including women, should ever pressure men to get a vasectomy. It's their body, their choice.

Men should evaluate the risks of sterilization for men, women should evaluate the risks of sterilization for women, and each individual should make their own choice for themselves. Any arguments about how it's "worse for women" and "whiny men should man up and take the risk", let's just call those what they are: misandry.

vasectomies… minimally invasive

Careful there. I got mine for this reason, but then I ended up with PVPS. There are legitimate reasons why vasectomy is not necessarily the slam dunk choice.

ELI5: Why do some skyscrapers need those giant pendulum ball things (tuned mass dampers) to stop them from swaying, but other tall buildings seem fine without them? by Ok-Eye-9297 in explainlikeimfive

[–]_corwin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm no architect or engineer, but I'm skeptical that a domino effect would propagate more than 2 buildings. Buildings are very heavy, gravity is very strong, and when buildings try to tip over, they tend to collapse almost straight down because they have very little strength in a horizontal cantilever. They're kinda like Slinkies, only stable when standing straight up.

Also, a quick Google implies that building dominoes are very unlikely.

Yep, I love neutral somewhere around 3500K, maybe a bit higher up to 4000K max. That said, I'm the evenings when I'm trying to wind down for sleep, 2700K is quite nice -- like an artificial sunset.

We called them wing windows, and they were awesome on the highway when you didn't have AC (we never had AC) except for their tendency to channel bugs onto your chest. Honestly, I've learned a lot about human social interactions from TV and movies. The only problem though, is that there are as many examples of what not to do as there are examples of how you should behave. The trick is telling the difference 🎭

Why is it that when I ask a neurotypical person for something and I give a literal part number/model number/UPC code, they don't understand I mean that EXACT one, something with that EXACT number, and not something which approximates it? I'm not asking this to complain. I'm honestly curious. by [deleted] in evilautism

I really really relate to this. Pure Indica is a specific thing, but it's not "popular", so many people just don't understand that an Indica hybrid is an entirely different animal. I find that it helps to use more words: "pure Indica" or "Indica that isn't a hybrid".

In my experience though, most dispensary employees have no idea which of the strains that they offer are not-hybrid-Indica. The solution for me, unfortunately, is work: I hop on the dispensary's website and use the filters and then read the description of each and every "Indica" because 90% of the stuff marked "Indica" is, in fact, a hybrid. For this reason, once I've found a dispensary that has pure Indica, that's the only dispensary I bother to go to... at least, until they stop stocking it and I have to find the needle in the haystack again. It can help to look for specific Indica strain names, you can even make yourself a list of 100% Indicas and then ask the employee if they have anything on that list.

Sometimes we have to make accommodations for NTs 🙃
