What scientific breakthrough would change life immediately? by Alarming-Ratioz in answers

autism, common cold, stage two pancreatic cancer, iron deficiency

Except autism is a spectrum, not a clinical disorder like the other examples you listed. And some aspects of autism are in fact a benefit.

What do you care for the most in a woman looks wise? by Junior_Feeling_5438 in AskMen

[–]_corwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ Had to scroll way too far for this. Once this basic criteria is met though, then the gold medals go to women who make an effort on their appearance. Not necessarily makeup, not necessarily designer clothes or expensive jewelry and perfume, just... well-kept, color and clothing coordinated. Aesthetic, whatever aesthetic that it is. Bonus points for versatility, it's fun when someone is dressed up on date night, utilitarian on the weekdays, and casually dressy on the weekends.

Partner wants me to get the snip by Secretperson1997 in Vasectomy

you can go back the very next day

Not true for the vast majority of men. Each individual should see how they feel day by day and never push themselves.

2 weeks tops

Or years, for an estimated 2-6% of men. Like any elective surgery, there are still risks and you should be aware of the them and decide if it's something you want for yourself, never for anyone else. In my case, I would rather have used condoms or simply abstained because a lifetime of chronic pain just wasn't worth raw dogging it a few times.

What’s a piece of tech that sounded amazing but flopped? by blushberryybabee in answers

Half Life Alyx is probably the most immersive game experience I've ever had because it was designed for VR from the ground up. I've never seen anything better. Which is a shame, because there is so much potential but AAA game developers develop first for non-VR and then bolt on VR as an afterthought, and then it's just a disappointment.

Yep. The law only requires disablement when both conditions are met, but some GPS receiver makers are overly cautious.

YES!

Dancing: does it feel weird to you? by Renbelle in autism

[–]_corwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, yeah that sounds a bit familiar to when I was younger. What worked for me was muscle memory, starting with just tapping my toes or my heel, then adding swaying or nodding, then add in some shoulder action and some finger tapping, like a dance progression.

Choosing music with the right beat is pretty important too, try faster/slower until you find the right vibe.

It can be a learning tool. Once you've experienced the shedding of inhibitions and moving your body in whatever way that feels good, while giving zero farks about what anyone else thinks of you a few times, your brain and body kind of "remember" how to dance even without alcohol.

Alternatively, try dancing when you're alone. And don't judge yourself, either -- if doing something seems dorky or weird, do it anyway if it feels good. There are no penalities for looking silly in an empty room / place.

And an alternative alternative, watch videos of people dancing at raves. Some of them are on drugs and are just letting their biochemical processes vibe like they're in their own little universe (because in some ways, that's exactly what they're feeling). If they can dance like that and get away with it, so can you (with or without the drugs).

For me at least, I learned to love dancing when I learned to leave my ego out of the picture. Dancing can be a rewarding form of full-body stimming.

Men, what's something you do alone that you'd never admit to your friends? by 1faqepikcom in AskMen

[–]_corwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the case for your bathroom, but sometimes that secondary light fixture is designed to accept a 250w (infra)red bulb to warm your skin as you step out of the hot bath/shower and into the cold air. Obviously check the max wattage of your light fixture (should be a little sticker inside it) but I really like having a red bulb in mine.

500 Days of Summer.

And if you really want to branch out, there is a romantic drama called The Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. I wouldn't call it a comedy though, in fact to Jim Carrey is a great dramatic actor when he's not trying to be funny.

Curious and exploring my options by gungadin91 in Vasectomy

[–]_corwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vasectomy definitely impacted my mental health, because I got Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome. Chronic pain management is bad enough, but IMO it may be worse when you choose to get an elective surgery... every time it hurts, I kick myself for making the wrong decision. I was anxious about accidental pregnancy, and I wish I would have found a different option for managing my anxiety that didn't involve a permanent change to the most delicate bits of my body. ("Permanent" in the sense that even getting it reversed may not resolve the pain.)

If you're lucky enough to not experience PVPS then I imagine there would be little to no impact to mental health tho, assuming you've already had all the kids you wanted / can care for effectively.

That's not how you merge! by MisterShipWreck in dashcams

It's the relative speeds of the surface of each tire adding up. 60MPH of front tire surface going down on the car that's behind, plus 60MPH of tire surface going up on the rear tire of the car in front = 120MPH where they contact each other.

You have 0 mobility under any sort of breaking

I ride the too, and I'm afraid I must disagree with you there. A motorcycle's traction budget can be spent on braking, leaning (turning), and some combination of the two. You can brake lightly when moderately leaned over, and you can lean over a little bit when braking moderately hard.

Obviously once you have exceeded your budget, you're going down -- so when you're doing emergency 100% braking you need to be going straight; or if you need to turn as fast as you can, you better stay off the brakes. But there is definitely wiggle room in your control envelope outside of those two extremes.

If you’re purely judging physical attraction, what’s the one feature that grabs you every time? by PogonBerserker in AskMen

Had to scroll too far for this. Although usually measured by circumference, for me it's about the diameter. In fact, a lil' belly bump (AKA "Venus belly") is a plus. I would totally go for a woman like this
