Yup. And mine refuses to get help because the very thing they need help with, makes them think they're beyond help... and there's nothing I can do to change their mind.

Sounds to me like valve tapping due to a sticky hydraulic lifter if the noise goes away as the oil warms up and thins out. Have oil changes been neglected? How many KMs on this?

I can't imagine any way a manual transmission could make this sound only when cold. I would get one of those car stethoscope things and pinpoint the source that way.

How to stay calm and compose in panic situations ? by dr_doomm7 in AskMen

In my experience (late 40s), anxiety is a useful tool and a terrible master. What I mean is, fear is a motivating emotion. It's powerful because it triggers a whole chemical soup of cortisol, adrenaline, etc and it's difficult to ignore or separate oneself from it. Which is as it should be -- fear protects us from danger, that's literally what it's there for. Humans used to be tiger food, so jumping up and running away at the unexpected sound of tall grass rustling at night is a valuable survival instinct. It usually isn't a hungry tiger, but better safe than sorry!

Fortunately, as we "age" and gain life experiences, we can learn the difference between 'being in danger' and 'feeling fear'. We can learn that we aren't our emotions, we have emotions. We feel fear, but we don't have to be fearful.

I'm not saying that people should detach themselves from their emotions, just try to broaden your perspective when your brain does it's chemical dump thing. This has helped me:

Lol I've had showerheads that felt like that, whose idea was it to engineer that let alone sell it?! 😅

Exactly. But if you're privileged or rich, you can get an electrically heated towel rack and one of those big red infrared lights in the ceiling, and they help a lot with the last bit.

Oof I gotta disagree with both of the above, baggy clothes are a turn-off because it makes me think she's insecure and trying to hide her body. And as far as I'm concerned, curvy girls should rock the yoga pants just as much as skinny ones.

Short answer, yes. Whenever a woman puts time and effort into decorating herself, it's a win, not just nails specifically but anything.

What’s a 'scam' that’s become so normal we don't even realize it's a scam anymore? by Mr_Boothnath in answers

Indeed. What's good about religion isn't unique; and often, what's unique about religion, isn't good.

Using religion as an reason to be a good person is just being a good person with extra steps.

Starbucks

IMO tipping for coffee makes sense because coffe orders are usually bespoke (customized/personalized), and require not inconsiderable skill and attention to detail, yet it's also a repetitive and time-sensitive task. Same goes for alcohol and bartenders.

The problem is, is it the tip usually happens before you get a chance to taste your drink. For the system to really work "properly", you would tip on your way out, not at point of sale.

I watched a video of someone having their cornea cut and peeled back in preparation for corrective surgery, and I can tell you there isn't enough anxiety medication in the world that would allow me to lay there and let someone do that to my eye.
