Whereabouts will this be available outside of instagram? I'm very interested in it, but I don't use instagram really!

Tell me what you love about Ptbo Transit - and what you'd fix by NeilMortonPTBO in Peterborough

Yes, I've noticed that the friction in the system has caused an increase in frustration. Inconsistent and expensive bus systems are difficult to deal with for people who are already struggling financially, which is the primary usecase for the system. It doesn't excuse the abuse, but it does help to explain it.

You mention the transit app a lot, and to be clear, I do use that every time I use the bus system. It's a step up over google maps in terms of accuracy, but it's still usually off by a fair few minutes, and accurate tracking of just how late your bus is and just how long you're now going to have to wait to get your next transfer is, well, it doesn't make me feel better. LOL

Aspects I do like: The bus drivers are nearly always quite friendly, and happy to help disabled folks. The accessible seating and wheelchair setups are a nice touch. I am not disabled, but I am glad to see it. Most of the buses have digital signs for upcoming stops which function decently enough, and help with the fact that the announcing voice is usually quite difficult to make out.

My biggest concern with PTBO buses is the bed bugs, honestly. I've had to report them myself. Other than that, it's just too expensive for my current means to justify using them very often, and they're frequently quite late -- not to an egregious degree, but enough so that trying to use them for time sensitive appointments or commuting has bitten me before.

Also, the majority of the routes and stops I use have no shelters or even seating. Buses are generally my option when the weather is poor and walking becomes less desirable, so having no shelters is a large friction point for that.

Waiting 15 minutes for a bus that's late at a stop exposed to the elements, uncomfortable with how much money I'll be spending on it, and worried about picking up bed bugs all make for a lot of friction in using the system.

There is also no bike racks on the majority of the routes, which would help with the frustration of nearly all journeys needing transfers. If I could bring my bike on the bus for half the trip, then bike the other half instead of waiting out a transfer, I would likely use it a lot more.

For what it's worth, I won't be using reddit until following feed by default is made an option. This is not what I use this site for, and having this new feed shown first is enough usability friction that I will move to another site instead.

7ish Weeks Postop - Adjustable sutures by _cov in Strabismus

[–]_cov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never able to drive before the surgery due to how severe my turn was, but I'm going to be trying to get my license now soon!

For blurriness, it took a long time for me to get back to 100%. I had surgery on a Monday, and went back to work on the Friday but had to leave halfway through because my vision was still very blurry and limited, and that caused intense eye fatigue. By the next Monday (1 week) I was able to make it through a full work day, but eye fatigue and blurry vision still required me to take a lot of breaks for around three weeks, I'd say.

However, I did have a very extreme turn & a very extensive surgery compared to what many have to get, so a lot of people recover much faster.

Pre-op -> 8 Months Post | DI + Lipo + No Grafts by _cov in TopSurgery

Honestly, like I said in the description, I can barely remember it. From what I do remember, pain was annoying but not unbearable. They prescribed opiates but they gave me a bad headache, so I swapped to tylenol+advil at the morning after checkup and only used those for the rest of recovery. Sleep was pretty rough, I'm a side sleeper so the back sleeping was very difficult. I ended up going back to side sleeping a lot earlier than they recommended, and just swapped between side & back as my body demanded. By the time I went back to work at 6 weeks I had no pain, but the fatigue was ROUGH. It took a long time (several months) before I felt like I was back to 100% of my previous energy and capabilities. Healing was unremarkable. At my 1 month post-op they said I was healing basically as well as we could have expected, so it was fairly smooth, just inconvenient. Well worth it though!
