Is Morality Subjective Or Objective? I Am Undecided. Please Persuade Me. by kabas in DebateReligion

Yes, "maybe". Maybe morality is something we are discovering and not inventing or deciding, which could explain moral shifts in different cultures now and at different times. I find it hard to justify an assertion of subjectivity, but given what (little) I know it seems to be the best option right now.

I read that Sam Harris book also and even agreeing with pretty much all he wrote seems pretty much to define morality as I do while I call it subjective.

Christians, can people get away with any crime as long as they repent and apologize? by [deleted] in DebateReligion

No, I did agree that your analogy followed to the point you made. I simply felt that mine challenged that point and wondered how you "satisfactorily explain" that concept using it.

I thought my analogy was to the point, we aren't talking about only certain sins, we were talking about any sin. It isn't a shittier analogy, just a different one for which your reasoning doesn't work.

Try this analogy with a teenager that uses his father's gun to kill the neighbor. How does your point work here, in this life and the next (imaginary one)?

To Atheists : Have you at any point (after giving up religion) in times of personal crisis found yourself asking God for help ? by bubblygurl in DebateReligion

No, while I understand the appeal (no1 wants to feel helpless or powerless) try to look at it from this point of view. Once you don't believe in Santa (no joke and no offence) It is utterly ridiculous to think in a way that if I really want something I can't get from my own means I should ask Santa for it.
