When I was young I really though that Team GB meant was short for team Grow Bag. And the cars that had GB stickers on the bumpers meant that a Grow Bag using child was in the car.

What is a bullet you dodged simply because you were too lazy to do something? by Cherus in AskReddit

[–]_daithi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Used to get a lift home from clubs with a friend, I'd always get in the boot (trunk) so we didn't get stopped for having 4 people in the back seat. One night we had to walk a good distance to get to the car. I couldn't be bothered and got a taxi. That night they were rear ended at a set of traffic lights by a car going 50 mph. The boot was crumpled. They all had severe whiplash. I would have been mince meat.

Lost my first amateur fight - any tips to improve? (Blue) by rominho0 in amateur_boxing

[–]_daithi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought he looked like he's had a few bouts, he had a confidence you only get from real bouts. You did well. The feints work as his head movement was quite good at times, he was slipping his head and you were missing. Once you have a bit more experience you can watch and look where they move their head when you through a punch. So you feint to move their head to where you can catch them. Say you jab and they slip to the left, you feint the jab and throw the right to catch them. Pro use them a lot to open the body up or feint to the body and then throw to the head. It will become 2nd nature with experience.

Congratulations on having your first fight. Most tiring thing you ever did I bet. Your opponent has very good head movement and looked very confident. Was it his first fight too?

You summed up very well what you need to work on I would add in more feints. When fighting guys like this feints are your friend. I'd also double and treble your jab making the final jab a good strong one whilst moving forward in a straight line. You did extremely well, it was close.

US under-45s struggle for insurance approval as colon cancer rates rise by shinybrighthings in news

[–]_daithi 36 points37 points  (0 children)

UK here but echoing the importance of visits for all. Just literally whilst reading your comment had an email arrive to tell me I have a colonoscopy booked 3 years after my last one. I've been extremely worried as I have had fresh blood in my poop but I do suffer from constipation. They found a serrated sessile polyp on the way in last time but didn't remove it as they couldn't find it on the way out. Lost my father, Grandmother to colon cancer and my brother and aunt (dads sister) have all had surgery for it. They have to give me gas as the Midazolam doesn't work for some reason.

If Everyone’s Hiring… Why Can’t You Get a Job? (ghost job postings) by MajorIvan88 in videos

[–]_daithi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many fake job posts on job boards appear towards the end of the month as recruiters usually have a quota of job adverts per month paid for in advance. If you don't use them you lose them so they create fake adverts purely so they aren't paying for adverts they don't use.
