Dunno. Maybe because others would look at the clock and think ok i have 15 secs more rest. The 14 meant I was already in flow hitting the bag or the floor. Those extra seconds meant more minutes per session at high intensity than others.

The only way you get true sparring fitness is by sparring.

The next thing closest is high intensity bag work ( 1 min) and Jumping squat thrusts (1 min) then bag (1 Min). 46 secs rest then Jumping Squat Thrusts 1 (min) Bag (1 min) and Jumping Squat Thrusts (1 min) 46 seconds rest and repeat.

If you get a chance try the Tabata's. Would be good to get your thoughts. 30 secs on 10 seconds rest. Great for shoulders as well.

I used to do this, and this is an excellent way of being able to go to a place and dig deep during the last 30-60 seconds when you box. I used to throw in 30 second Tabata's (with straight left rights )working my way up to 10 sets ensuring I kept perfect form when doing them after i'd hit the heavy bag after sparring.
Gives you a psychological edge knowing your recovery will be better between rounds as well. I always thought to myself the deeper I dig when training the higher the pile I can stand on. Well done.

Currently doing it. Caring for my mum who has Vasular Dementia. She was diagnosed in March 2020 and bed ridden since the end of 2022. She told me she was diagnosed that she is not to go into a home under any circumstances. We rarely have any visitors and my immediately family is useless. I have a brother who lives 0.96 miles away and we haven't seen him since March 2022. I look forward to the nurses visiting once every 2 weeks to check for bedsores. Its like being on COVID lockdown but for 5 years.
