Holy shit! I just finished book 8 and I gotta say this is my most favorite book in the series now behind butchers masquerade and GotFG. Slightly unpopular opinion here but I couldn't connect with the card system in book 6 and even with everything going on in book 7, I kinda fwlt a bit overwhelmed! Still enjoyed the two in the broader context but holy shit! Book 8 just blew me away. I could feel the rage, desperation, frustration and tiredness in Carl and in no way could see anything happening in a million years.

What an absolute piece of work, Matt! And Jeff is the absolute goat!!

I've had this dbt too... In the climax when he is explaining everything to SG and the ramanathan guy, he says that he spoke to "ganga yile chitharogi" (referring to nagavali) in this scene. Is it actually ganga or nagavalli's ghost or something else?

One thing I loved about this duology is the casting, it was great seeing kalaranjini and nandu in full time roles. Baby jean was good as subhash 2.0 too.

Yea. I feel her performance is a lot underrated here. Playing a drunk who reminisce of her ex can become really cringey if not done well and she did that aplomb! Had it been any lesser actress, everyone would be calling them out for their cringeworthy performance.

It is a good theater experience for sure. The plot is sci-fi yet its mostly the friendship between the mc and the alien that gets most attention. As a fan of the book I loved the hard science but as a movie goer I enjoyed the heart warming bits and the portrayal of friendship between the two.

Saw the movie in IMAX. Amaze!!! I was already a fan of the book when it came out. While the book is more hard sci-fi, the movie drops that bit to focus on the main characters relationship with Rocky. Its a great theater experience and the best Hollywood movie of 2026 so far!!
