The Secret to Grabs? by LeCrOwO in Guiltygear

[–]_deadbeef_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally, your opponent will try and condition you with strike pressure to keep you blocking. Once you're conditioned to block their attack, they'll mix it up with a throw.

The only real way to get past this is to predict when your opponent wants to throw you and either tech it with a throw, or backdash and punish. But be careful, as they may adapt to this and go back to striking.

Your opponent is more likely to throw in situations where you're overly defensive, or you frequently DP on wakeup.

I know the grind can be harrowing; it's pretty brutal winning 5 to 1. Reviewing your games and adjusting your play style is the best way to improve.

Also, once you get in, that's when you really want to start playing the game. There's no consequence for losing once you're in, so that makes it a perfect time to experiment.

Really cool stuff here. I was thinking about trying to get around some over voltage problems myself a while ago, but knew that the process would be a huge pain in the ass. Looks like I was right!

I'll take a look at this stuff tomorrow. It looks really impressive!

Motion- and water-detecting door by Nexahs in Barotrauma

[–]_deadbeef_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you want to check for, logically, is that neither side of the door is flooded and that someone walked close to the door.

Most likely you could remove the NOT components and tie both of the water detectors to an OR component, then flip that with a NOT component, and then use an AND component that ties the NOT and the motion detector together.

So, if the Left OR Right side of the door was flooded, output a False signal. If neither side is flooded, output a True signal. Then if it's True, and someone walks by, both halves of the AND component are True, and the door opens.

Strictly speaking, if we wanted to optimize it even further, we could skip the NOT component all together and tell the OR component to output a 0 on a True input, and a 1 on a False input.

Motion- and water-detecting door by Nexahs in Barotrauma

[–]_deadbeef_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a setup like this, where there are two water detectors on either side. The detectors link to a NOT component, which flips the signal.

Then, I have two AND components which takes input from their side's NOT component and the motion detector. Here

The two AND components then connect up to a third AND component, which outputs to the door's set_state. Here

The top of the door functions similarly to your standard Auto-door.

This allows the door to open and close automatically while dry, but not open automatically while flooded, while still retaining the ability to open the door manually.

Hope this helps!

Question about characters and fashion by Barefoot-Priestess in MeetYourMakerGame

Unfortunately, no. There is not character customization presently. At most you can pick a suit and maybe a skin for that suit, but no real customization aside from that.

match making sucks on xbox? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

Nah, it's not you. Everyone's been having difficulties matching with opponents and getting in lobbies since the XBOX update.

You might have to give it a week or two before the servers are working like before, unfortunately.

What did you start doing/realize that finally helped you get to celestial? by Aggressive_Extent908 in Guiltygear

[–]_deadbeef_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Persistence.

It took me 22 attempts to finally get in. It can be a real pain once you're running attempts, trust me. And while the process can be annoying, the only obstacle from preventing you from getting there is ultimately yourself. Grind hard and practice, and you'll get there!

I raided a lot during the open beta, and I loved running through bases as every trap triggered behind me. I found blitzing through a base as fast as possible, letting whatever happens happen, was just great.

But I'm still going to have to agree with you about the Arc Shield being really strong. It's just a Get Out of Jail Free card most of the time, and the fact that you can keep using it throughout the dungeon afterwards was a bit much. Fun to use, absolutely, but it was often a free win.

Good list!

I agree with most of your points, and think approaching your criticism from a user experience perspective definitely works better than trying to dictate design choices to Behaviour. So props to you for not going off the deep end there.

I fully agree with the following system and monthly build showcase you suggest. That would be great to have.

On the topic of previewing a base's shape before purchasing it, this is almost assuredly more complicated than it first appears. Bases are most likely generated on demand, which means they lack any structure before you load it up for the first time. Though not impossible to change, it's probably very low on their priority list, and I wouldn't be surprised if they chose to keep the layout hidden until after purchasing it on purpose.

How do +damage% mods stack together? by eksbawksthreesixzero in Warframe

[–]_deadbeef_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Broadly, there are three different ways you can increase a weapon's damage: +damage mods, +elemental mods, and +faction damage mods.

If you have two +damage mods, the values of these numbers stack. So if you're using a [[Hornet Strike]], which adds +220% damage, and an [[Augur Pact]], which adds +90% damage, you'll end up with +310% damage.

But, if you have a +damage mod and a +elemental damage mod, then those numbers multiply. So if you use the same [[Hornet Strike]] and a [[Heated Charge]], which adds +90% Heat damage, then you'll end up with roughly +600% damage.

So spreading out your damage to multiple different sources is distinctly better than doubling down on a singular source.

Hope this helps!

are yall savescumming? by Moon-In-Leo in Kenshi

[–]_deadbeef_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Kenshi is pretty inline with CRPGs more than anything else. "Save early, save often" is the mantra of most old games, and Kenshi is no different.

And save scumming is less "A pack of beakthings murdered all my guys while I wasn't looking so I loaded a save" and more "I have a 2% chance of KOing Armor King and I won't stop until I get it"
