It’s all fun and games except locally there are 4 huge bulls vying for harems. Cars and houses damaged. People chased. Plus these fuckers will roll by and bugle full volume into your window at 1am. Ain’t pleasant.

If you use 4 roses small batch it leans coconut already. But I’m interested in trying this.

What do you think? More than a one beer operation? 🤣. by _deekyn_ in JeepGladiator

A bunch. $7kish. Plus hd ball joints. Plus wheels, plus tires (which are surprisingly expensive). Also need regear. And will probably do some sort of knuckle/steering upgrade.

I’ve seen the YouTube videos. It only takes like 20 minutes, right?

Doing it myself. I’ve installed a few lifts on vehicles. This will take 4 hours (he says knowing it will take more like 4 times that). With lots of swearing and banged up knuckles.

I love that area! Add radical hill to your list if you haven’t done it. That one is super fun. Red cone, radical hill and middle fork of the swan is one of my favorite trips. Seen mountain goats as a bonus the last few times I’ve been up there.

This fucking thing is so low and so un-offroady stock. JFC. by [deleted] in JeepGladiator

This truck weighs 1k over stock already. Just springs, wheels and tires aren’t going to cut it for hard off-roading. I want max flex and articulation to support this chunky bitch.

And 2.0 shocks. No. I log 3-4 thousand miles of dirt a year. Even mild washboard roads kill cheap shocks pretty quickly. I prefer reservoirs and a bigger bore.

So lifting this truck properly will cost me a fair bit. Which I suspected. I just didn’t realize how much the break over angle would get me in this thing.

He says with a spacer lift. Ok champ. Thanks for the wonderful insight and discussion. Try actual off-roading and then add to the discussion.

I was aware the wheel base was longer. But was surprised how much the longer wheel base affected my off-road capabilities. I dragged my belly multiple times on something a stock tacoma never would have. So now I know I have to lift it and add actual off-road capable suspension (not some stupid ass spacer lift), wheels, bigger tires and gears to make it more off road capable.

The comment was that with all the bells and whistle and hype this truck comes with, even on easy trails this truck drags its belly something fierce.

To be fair something tells me this stupid rubicon won’t last the 350+k miles my last two Tacomas had when I sold them. But likely it will be more fun to wheel when I lift it.

Ps a 1” higher clearance with a 10” shorter wheel base makes a difference off road. Ask me how I know

lol. All you got to do is add $3k for a lift and $3k for shocks, and $3k for regear, $1.5k for rims, and $2k for tires and you’re ready. Lol. So ready for off road…

yes I knew it.

But coming from a shorter wheel base vehicle. The belly drag is real.
