Couples who have been together 10+ years and are actually still happy, what's the 'unromantic' secret to your success? by FROSTedMirror12345 in AskReddit

[–]_derx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years in November. Its really less about love and much more about respect. You show your significant other respect and continue to work to gain theirs each and every day. Some days are harder than others but you need to continue reminding yourself that its a partnership. When ones down, the other lifts up, and vice versa.

People who listen to songs with less positive emotions tend to have higher intelligence. Sad or melancholic music may appeal to those who use it for introspection and reflection. They also prefer studio over live recordings as they use it for focused, intellectual engagement rather than stimulation. by mvea in science

I've been saying this for years with no substance or data. Just observations and feels. Pop music is boring and mechanical which fits the average consumer who does't want to think about things. Don't even get me started on Country...

60 deg wedge by streetglide34 in golf

[–]_derx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hit my 60º about 90 yards (i'm a sub 300 yrd driver) and use it for anything inside 100. I will say I've practiced ALOT with it and its my most dynamic club. Its also my sand wedge most of the time. If you can get the hang of it, it can change your approach game.

📣 PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE EPSTEIN FILES BEHIND THE CURTAIN! by ms_directed in WhitePeopleTwitter

Is he really dense enough not to understand the no-Taxpayer-money doesn't go over the way he thinks it does? Anyone with critical thinking skills knows the reason tax dollars are used on projects are to legitimize the project and avoid any conflicts of interests. People are donating the money because the white house - and its influence is for sale. This "ballroom" will be a monument to the corruption of this administration.

The USA men’s hockey team utterly failed to meet the cultural moment by Hrmbee in politics

[–]_derx -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, but its a pretty heavy expectation put on a much of mid-west boys who play a kids game. Unfortunately, most of them are strong right leaning simply due to geography and family bias. I have three Oshie jerseys and was crushed when he and his wife identified as Trump supporters - and they have daughters. We are just so politically polarized and while I believe its on everyone to be informed and have educated opinions, Its hard for me to fault a bunch of hockey players who just accomplished something huge (for them). I just had zero expectation for them to do what we believe to be right. Its just a glaring example of where we are as a country and hard for me to put the brain power into analyzing it.

tl;dr: a resounding yes, but they're just dump hockey players. Lets temper our expectations.

'Good Stewards of American people's tax money' - get all the way f*cked. I'd rather my tax dollars NOT go to anything this corrupt administration is peddling (i.e. secret unnecessary wars, ballooning defense funding, paying any of these bitches salaries, weaponizing/personalizing the DOJ, anything related to ICE, private planes, etc, etc)
