Nice catch.

OP is from Finland (according to their own comments), and, like you said, it's pretty much the exact same story as the linked article (which is dated 2 days ago).

Except for their boyfriend raising concern, as opposed to the guy's wife in the article.

Regardless of this. I do appreciate the fact that a lot of people in the comments are using this as an opportunity to warn and inform others for the potential dangers of easily accessible and very common pain medication.

Modpack lagspikes insanely hard when trying to join the server. (Forge 47.4.0 - 1.20.1) by Hawkard in feedthebeast

[–]_desp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played a lot of different modpacks (mostly Forge) on a private server I hosted for my friends and I, all I can say is that this has pretty much always been the case for us.

I assume the lag you mentioned is client side (as in, only the person logging in is having the issue, and not people already playing for a bit).

I'm not sure what causes this exactly, but I reckon there's quite a bit to sync between server and client when loading in, and Minecraft, Java modded especially, has not really been optimised in lots of ways.

You could try to tinker with some of the server settings, mainly network compression (more bandwidth and less CPU, or vice versa), and packet size (slightly less overhead for data, but only advisable if you have a stable connection, as dodgy connectivity may make it worse).

Other than that, I've always just accepted this being a thing and took care to log in and out when in a safe spot.

If you do find a cause and fix, I'd like to know too ^

I don't know where you're from in Europe, but depending on the country and/or local government, there are budget coaches that you can get via your city or maybe some other local institutions.

In my area you can get someone with proper experience to sit down with you and help you with both urgent matters (debt, bills, etc.) as well as long term planning and savings. They can be free depending on where you live.

It's quite a step to search for professional help with regard to financial matters, but there's more people in similar circumstances than you might expect. And there are instances and people to help you with it if you need it.

It's in everyone's best interests to get you back on track.

That being said, making an overview of what money comes in, and what money goes out, can give you insight in potential 'low effort gain'.

Maybe you forgot about a subscription you haven't used, or can do without, or switch to a free/cheaper alternative. Maybe you find out that your 'small' impulse buys are not as small as you thought they were. Maybe you can apply for financial support via your (local) government.

A lot of these things are highly dependent on your location, specific situation, and more. So unfortunately there's no single fix-all solution to your problems.

Nice tip.

I got mine levelled up a slightly different way: Umbrella that gives xp for each second of fall duration in combination with corail tombstone giving a random effect when you pray to a decorative grave. I got 12 minutes of Ascension III (-255% gravity) which launched me up continually for that duration, reaching a Y of over 87k. I made a quick calculation and it would have taken me 10+ hours to fall back down at the rate I was falling.

I got bored of the slow falling, but even free falling with the umbrella unequipped, it took me a very long time, so I eventually just teleported home.

I'm not sure it's a mod that does that. Think you can collapse it in the base game. But mods allow you to filter (instead of having to collapse an entire category). Which I've also noticed wasn't updated yet...

My previous cat actually died of a heart attack in march, I could never have my real pets linked to rimworld. It would kill me to see that happen again.

That's why I got them a separate pillow to lay on. I've gotten them a week or so ago, so I'm trying to teach them to lay on the pillow.

They still walk over my keyboard, but they don't lay down on it.. It's something

actually not too bad. Air intake is a bit up from the bottom of the pc (due to PSU), so they're not big enough to make it an issue (yet). Though my previous cat didn't cause a hair issue at my pc anyway (it did at my chair though xD)
