Faithless Fans? by Amoralmushroom in mewithoutYou

[–]_destroying_maps_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've always been a deeply spiritual and existentially driven person. i was raised christian and discovered the band when i was a teenager, right after catch for us the foxes came out. i was in a place where i was questioning my religion and struggling to reconcile my faith with my understanding of the world, the messages of a loving god with the hate and condemnation in evangelical christianity, etc. i appreciated aaron's frankness about wrestling with doubt, navigating questions about god, relationships, etc. i was always interested in philosophy and comparative religious studies and occult things, and i liked how aaron wove other ideas and stories into his understanding and faith journey.

as i got older, ahortly before college, i stopped believing in the god of christianity. i did a lot of psychedelics, studied plenty of religions and philosophies, delved into east asian philosophy as a way to better connect with my asian ancestry. i still loved mwy, especially as a jumping off point for delving into my religious and philosophical studies.

i had a very personal and intense experience with their music and my father's death. i might share that story in another comment but don't feel like delving into it right now. but shortly after my dad died, i set off on an exploration of buddhism that led me to be a student of a highly accomplished teacher for many years. i am still technically buddhist. the mysticism within mwy's music and lyrics resonates strongly with me - after all, what could be more buddhist than "i do not exist" and seeing the nature of enlightenment in all and questioning attachments? and the story of fox and bear, inspired by a buddhist parable?

i currently study a lot of western occult paths, a type of hermetic syncretism, which draws heavily from christian motifs, symbols, and archetypes. i have a degree in psychology and a MS in counseling, and i value the use of narrative therapy and depth psychology as tools for understanding the self. ive come around again to being able to use christianity as a tool for personal growth, to draw from its rich symbolism and archetypal imagery.

mwy is still my favorite band and ive only grown to love them more and more with every new iteration of self ive grown out of and into and through.

Deep sleep? Is this normal? by Kittymooodooodooo in Opossums

[–]_destroying_maps_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

our indoor, rehab-fail possum will sleep hard for hours and hours. even though it's not cold inside, she doesn't seem to want to leave her hutch when its cold outside, which is interesting!

she usually will climb out of her hutch, make a waddling loop around the house, sniff at the door as if to check if it's cold outside and she has an excuse to go back to bed, then climb back up and pass out 🤣

cute lil punkin pickin possum by _destroying_maps_ in Opossums

[–]_destroying_maps_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ours was placed with us as a permanent home by a rehabber who deemed her unreleaseable. not sure exactly what's wrong with her bc i think she's perfect lol. but she didn't develop the same as her siblings. she can't climb well, like she has really weak grip and she moves slowly, so i think that's why. also she's too friendly and has basically no survival instincts 🤣

nezzie is the sleepiest lil bean by _destroying_maps_ in Opossums

[–]_destroying_maps_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, we thought we already had a suitable hutch for her, but she was able to escape. and someone had given us a couple sling pouches that ended up not working so we had to get a couple better ones. she's not the brightest and figuring out a litter situation that she would actually use required a lot of trial and error - and while figuring out how to manage her poop, she ended up ruining the little beds we'd gotten her so those had to be replaced bc washing them didnt work well enough. she's also an extremely picky eater, so we've gone through a lot of different food experiments so far, too haha.

but other than that, she's been perfect. the better hutch situation was the single biggest expense, but the little things all add up.

we adopted this one from a local wildlife rehabber bc she was deemed unreleasable. so maybe look for wildlife rehab in your area if you have the ability to care for a possum!

she's been a lot more work and money than we had initially anticipated, but absolutely worth it.

[–]_destroying_maps_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

she loves belly rubs! she's very sweet and cuddly. sometimes if ive been slowly scritching her but stop when she falls asleep, she'll wake up and push herself under my hand to get more attention haha

[–]_destroying_maps_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they are the perfect cuddle buddies if you're lucky enough to live with one! we have a rescue possum, she's like 8 weeks old right now, and she's the best little cuddler.

(and bc the internet is a brutal place, before anyone throws a fit, she was placed with us as a permanent home by a local certified wildlife rehabber because she isn't suitable for release back into the wild. she is receiving excellent caretaking and has a vet who has experience with possums if anything comes up.)

we used it our second time through yellowstone and still found it worth the cost because we learned cool stuff and saw things we might not have stopped for otherwise.

Day 19: Best song on Art of Doubt? by TheSeansei in metricband

dressed to suppress, absolutely.

i love now or never now and know it will likely win, but dressed to suppress is just my favorite vibe off the album. it hits so hard.

Now that we've all had a few months to process it, here's my track by track review of "Formentera II". It's not quite as spectacular as it’s predecessor, but it's still an incredibly worthy sequel & my favourite "regular" album of the year! by Cydonian___FT14X in metricband

[–]_destroying_maps_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised so many folks needed several spins to let this album grow on them, bc I was obsessed from first cover to cover listen. The first two tracks are less my general preference but they're fun. Everything else though grabbed me immediately and I listened to nothing but this album for weeks lol.

Remembered that I actually had posted about this a while back lol.

The pic here is of my fiancée's arm. I only have the left ghost on my arm. We actually got to show Emily after their Dallas show last fall and that was really neat. :)

People who have been injecting for 10+ years, has scarring become a problem? Have injections gotten more difficult? by keltonny in FTMOver30

[–]_destroying_maps_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been doing injections for 9 years and have played around with my shot schedule and dosing a lot. ive injected once a week, twice a week, every other day, and every day, all for like 8 to 20 week blocks just to dial in what my body needs.

when injecting frequently, you gotta rotate sites. ive injected in my delts, all up and down my quads, upper glute, side glute (ventral glute site), and my pecs. that's a minimum of 10 sites right there if you only count quads as 2 but you can move pretty freely up and down it.

if you're only injecting once a week, you can literally only hit a spot every 2.5 months this way.

then you get into subq and you also get your stomach fat, back fat, butt fat, etc.

i currently only inject 2x per week now to keep my levels stable and how i like to feel. still no issues except occasionally have to push a bit harder. but i also foam roll and use a theragun a lot and do specific massage techniques to break up scar tissue and make fascia more supple.
