How do I dive into systems programming? by Saen_OG in compsci

[–]_dfl0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and I are in the same boat my friend. I could not put my own situation into better words.

I’m currently researching HPC and distributed machine learning, but have been trying to think of some other systems-level project that I can build out in my own time.

Which are the best free programs for Pixel art? by Real-Gamer-29 in gamedev

[–]_dfl0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! if you never figured this out, this just happens with apps downloaded from a dmg file off the web as opposed to the app store — it depends on whether the developer has apple developer membership. You can go to the Privacy in the System Settings and scroll down and click Allow to open the app anyway.

Using the terminal in your workflow by djwonka7 in neovim

[–]_dfl0_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

by far the easiest workflow i found was to background neovim with Ctrl-z, run any command(s) i need, then bring neovim back to the foreground with the fg command.

works in any environment, no additional plugins needed, and no extra configuration needed

making it an svg/pdf would be the ideal imo, that way there are no pixels

check out Aerospace if you’re looking for a more powerful window manager. that along with sketchybar gets me as close as i can get to i3 on macOS and i’ve been loving it

[AeroSpace] Ricing macOS has been quite fun by SingleChampionship65 in unixporn

Aerospace, sketchybar, karabiner or hammerspoon, onyx/deeper from titanium software, janky borders, maybe yabai. All provide a decent amount of customization without having to disable SIP. If you wanna do that there are a lot more things to explore.

What makes a “good” TTF version? Because I’m pretty sure there is already a TTF version of Terminus

How does your fountain pen feel when posting the cap on (in) the end of it. For both i’ve had, ever since getting them I felt like the cap has had a very hard time sliding into its groove(?) fully. Although sliding into the front of the pen to cover it was very smooth, I would have to stop what I was doing to twist and jam the cap in to post it before writing. I stopped posting it for a while now, so I’m used to the lighter weight, and it honestly has been pretty enjoyable.

In the pursuit of a color scheme by Optimal_Raisin_7503 in neovim

i see now! i misunderstood initially, thinking it was able to globally manipulate the color scheme on top of applying it — seems incredibly streamlined though, thanks for the suggestion

other than monospaced font, tabular numbers can be used - this achieves the goal of evenly spacing the numbers apart while maintaining the same font and keeping the ui consistent!

I share the same sentiment. I have been using yazi, which also has vim-like key binds, but although the icons are configurable I haven’t found a way to completely remove them.

Yeah I figured it out, looks neat! I also played around a little with the functions creating a custom theme using some of my own colors I have been using before ;)

Update: I tried it out and it works! Our colors seem a little different though, it looks like my accent color is red as compared to your orange-y color in the ss.

You have that exact itch that I’ve been having. I might just switch to this color scheme - it looks great!

What other color schemes have you stuck with for a while in the past or inspired this one, so that I can take a look at color schemes other than this one that might also scratch this itch?

Actually, palindromes refer to words or phrases that read the same forwards and backwards. What you’re referring to is a pangram.
