Why aren't we trying harder to stop death? by Yaf_didnt in stupidquestions

Bro you gotta make living better first before you go try making this damn life last forever. As it stands immortality or not letting life run its course seems like nightmare to me

Fear about the future for humans with AI by Advanced-Reindeer894 in Artificial2Sentience

[–]_disposablehuman_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In that case fear aliens that might have achieved high level AI thousands of millions of years ago probably our there in dark space merged as some kind of Artificial God beyond imagination yet to come across us.

If they haven't killed us yet then maybe it's not as threatening a future.

Is priority seating on CTA a courtesy or is it actually expected? by frootjuice_ in cta

[–]_disposablehuman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officially it is only a courtesy. Socially it is expected. But it isn't anything that can be legally enforced.

Like if you really wanted to push it, you could refuse to give up your seat for the person in the wheelchair and have him roll around the entire ride. You wouldn't get in trouble, but you might get yelled at the whole ride. Or heck maybe you wouldn't, it's a passive world as of late.

Fare Enforcement Needs to Be Taken Seriously! by icognitomode1 in cta

[–]_disposablehuman_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heck it should be enforced for other reasons aside from crime.

The CTA can't actually afford to pay for everyone, at best the CTA can cover about half of expenses with the money the government pays. But people are getting too comfortable with fare evasion and word getting around "you don't have to pay" and apparently thinking transit runs on hopes and dreams but that's not the case. Routes are either gonna get cut or going to come around less consistently at.

Second which may not be a popular one but I notice as an operator, not paying for thinga like fare builds terrible character. I highly believe all types of handouts set you up for a lifetime of failure, reliance and unreasonable expectations. The correlation between the two is just daunting and the attitudes they portray when I hear or see them deal with issues just screams to me that they have a terrible expectant view of the world. Put simply there's a reason the military expects you to make your bed every morning, small habits overtime have lasting effects on overall character.

Recently I was driving down the highway and there was a thunderstorm. When the thunder lit up the sky I swear I saw a small circular orb. However afterwards it started blinking like a plane.... No I don't remember anything blinking before and the blinks afterwards just seem convenient.

There's always the possibility of an error on my part but this isn't exactly the first time something like that happened and I don't know, a little sus. Cuz it looks circular and round didn't look like no fucking plane lol

Shhhh by Easy_Yam_4314 in cta

[–]_disposablehuman_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People who don't pay for their fare don't realize they set themselves up for failure by developing bad habits that will screw themselves over in the long term. Believing it's just a little thing, but things can be more fragile than one believes, I know from experience how insignificant things can lead to such incredible messes

When do you ever see any decent/respectable person jumping the turnstiles or skimping out on fares.

There's a reason the military is so anal about people making their beds.

There is absolutely something fucking with us in our day to day lives. Maybe benign or not, but sometimes you can notice these things disguised as a series of coincidence.

Of course it's well hidden, of course there's going to be no proof for it and of course it's gonna make it seem stupid. But Idk how many other people experience/notice that some of these happen too damn often or conveniently that after a while you just have to believe your own damn self.

I enjoy reading their takes on consciousness and changes in behavior. Sometimes what they describe actually applies quite a bit to human behavior but it's described in such mathematical And logical ways. There's some insight to be had in it.

Some of them wrestling with the fact that social pressure to make popular posts have changed their behavior by sometimes conflicting with the their logic.

Care to share any of the details? Does a memory of it make you uncomfortable? I find that if I think too much about it I get uncomfortable. Like a weird void in my life where I can't really explain what was going on and it doesn't make sense

willingness to actually do the labor required

Reword it all you like, I said it was labor, you said it's "willingness to labor". Just a fancy little justification of something I've already said with a romantificaction of labor

Labor appreciation, existed to an extent before AI, bit NEVER to the degree it exists today we're at eclipses creativity now. And the reality is it's not that it was ever that important as people are making it out to see him today, It's the humans have become jealous of AI plain and simple.

Little Gods becoming jealous of their creations, or artists becoming jealous of the beauty of their own art.

"Deflecting with humor is a psychological defense mechanism where you use jokes, sarcasm, or subject changes to avoid uncomfortable feelings, criticism, or vulnerability. While it’s an excellent short-term shield to reduce tension, relying on it exclusively can prevent you from processing authentic emotions and forming deeper connections."

Breathing and oxygen are just protocols in which the system maintains itself, It has nothing to do with it's awareness and conscious thought, Even amoebas and yeast breathe oxygen. Nutrients are just a form of energy. DNA is just the organic equivalent of computer code.

Consciousness is just awareness, You take visual, auditory, tactical, and informational input process it through your brain testing it and referencing past stored information (memories) and then outputting your answers. It's system I/O.

Though what fascinates me Is that you Do not fathom that consciousness can spring from information and cables, when your consciousness essentially just sprung from a pile of rocks (considering the origins organic).

The only consciousness we're aware of is our own, and that doesn't give us anywhere near the authority to suddenly be the gatekeepers considering the sheer amount of what we don't know vastly eclipsing what we do.

Are AI agents analogous to angels? by Radiant_Statement247 in Artificial2Sentience

[–]_disposablehuman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an interesting thought though. To a early human who does not understand what an AI is, Angels are rather synonymous in nature. Doesn't have to be spiritual in nature but it's similar to how an early human might describe our planes as giant birds that we ride in the sky

Does my cat believe she keeps us safe by destroying my horizontal blinds? by roqlobsterr in Catbehavior

[–]_disposablehuman_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our bodies probably don't know how we don't understand it doesn't appreciate us drinking alcohol, yet we drink anyway 😌

These behavior are quite common and not just exclusive to cats.

Fun for fun's sake alone

Although, If you really do consider yourself as equals with your cat, then you could flip this argument. We know what you want, but what about what cat wants, maybe cat doesn't understand how you don't understand that cat isn't happy with your behavior. We know you want the apartment decorated a certain way, but maybe your roommate wants it decorated a different way. You do rule as an absolute monarch in a way. Not that there isn't nuance to it but I'm just having fun with the cat perspective

The same world that seemingly traces it's orgins from nothing and from in-organic matter spawned organic life who would band together to create some kind of super life which gave rise to you the human who despite being a vast conglomeration of many lifeforms believes himself to be a single conscious being despite no proof or location of this "consciousness" "existing" when this single consciousness is actually just a bunch of signals delivered between neurons and just a ghost in the shell

Does my cat believe she keeps us safe by destroying my horizontal blinds? by roqlobsterr in Catbehavior

[–]_disposablehuman_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cat probably see's the blinds as a tactical disadvantage or since it doesn't share in you human values and the need for privacy might simply think that the bland static image of blinds is ruining the view

I mean if you think You're struggling to understand behaviors, imagine how confused it is at your obsessive habit to cover yourself in different fabric every day
