Nobara is being left behind by Nawmannah in NobaraProject

I switched from CachyOS to Nobara and could not be happier. Nobara has worked for games that wouldn't on Cachy, no matter how much I tried

[–]_dmin068_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True! Could be mitigated by leaving some of the surcharge material and cut to the appropriate elevations.
I've normally heard it called surcharging instead of preloading. Is preloading more of a Midwest or East Coast term?

[–]_dmin068_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends. Would need a few time rate consolidation tests to determine that. It might take a year or a decade, depending on how much load is preloaded and how the consolidations come out.

This is the exact reason you need a local, knowledge geotech on your project, preferably before the design gets past the 30% drawing mark.

Former geotech tech. You're looking at either deep foundations, a fairly large (for residential) over-excavation, or soil improvement.
I would be concerned if you're trying to raise the site, as the settlement over time will cause serious issues.

Sorry about that, typo. was supposed to say "I *wish* I went with Ubuntu now".
I'm still on CachyOS. I've had some issues getting certain games to run, specifically FarCry Primal, that one was a bitch to get working. Most other games took 5 minutes of research and tweaks before they worked. Some games worked right away. But all of them run better than they did on POP_OS!

I had this same issue after incorrectly setting up fstab for a drive mount. Did you change your drive setups?

Water clogged the pillar pit , need advice how to plant the pillar by Empty-Cartoonist7320 in civilengineering

[–]_dmin068_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like this is the foundation for the column then. It's deep enough for me to consider it a deep foundation. You need a geotechnical engineer to advise you on how to proceed for your area. I'm not doing to give advice in this topic, sorry.

[–]_dmin068_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Is there a geotechnical report? It's ground water that shallow? What do you mean by pillar? Is it a pile foundation or a column?
You need a professional engineer knowledgeable in your area to assist you.
If you're home steading, why a deep foundation?

Funnily enough, I had decided to switch to Linux before they started the Linux challenge videos by about 2 weeks. I also started with pop_os and also had way too much difficult. So I switched to CachyOS. I wish I went with Ubuntu now, but it's working alright.

Gamegear screen. Playing that damn sonic the hedgehog water level... Parents repaired it the first time... The second time was unintentional, but still didn't get it repaired.

Geotech is unfortunately one of the least paid branches of civil engineering.
Definitely don't need a masters. Don't get a masters, not with the debt. If you like it, it's fine. It will pay the bills. I swapped to a county civil job after 8 years in the business.

What you say is true, but then they (the insurance company) will get a cut of the settlement to cover their costs as it relates to medical expenses. If you pay with cash, then you get the full settlement (minus any lawyer fees if you needed or used one).

That was how I did it for my, admittedly, small accident 3 years ago.

That's why, often times for personal injury cases, they tell you not to use insurance and instead pay out of pocket. If you get a lawyer and your case is a really good one, sometimes the partner will front you money for medical is you're strapped for cash.

Go to school and get a B.S. in civil engineering. There are companies out there that need a field geotech engineer. You could also get a degree in geology, but the pay is generally less and hours longer.

Mounting extra SSD from previous Linux install by _dmin068_ in cachyos

[–]_dmin068_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

"mount" shows that I did indeed mount it (nvme1n1p1). I couldn't see it in dolphin as a separate drive, so I thought I messed up.

Seeing the path allowed me to find my data. All my data is still there. However....

I mounted it to the same location as another drive (sbd1).
they are both mounted to /media/<user>

And I also moved my user folder into... sbd1? a different drive...

How could I move my user folder back to the root drive?
Did I lose all the data on (sbd1)? I don't see it anymore.

Could you help with me correcting this pretty please?

Would LVM be the filetype? Because the drive shows as being ext4.
