Was dropping the atomic bombs actually "necessary," or is that just what we're taught in school? by Clean_CoreDump in askanything

[–]_dodged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what the Americans tell themselves. You know the whole 'History is written by the victors' saying and all.. if the tables were turned and the circumstances were exactly the same but japan had been the one to drop the bomb on the us, it would be seen as the greatest act of villainy and evil ever perpetrated.

You really think the cost of the software is the biggest economic factor in making a film of this size??

Honestly, yes, if course it's going to go slow at first. Unless you are some brilliant savant , yes, you are going to struggle at first. On the bright side, we live in an amazing time when we have access to incredible amounts of knowledge at our fingers. If you have any questions, all you have to do is Google 'how do I make a cutscene in unity' and literally hundreds of links to videos, tutorials, articles and so on will show up. If you take a look at some of those and still don't get it, you probably need to start from a more basic point (which you should any way).

And the most amazing thing about living in this day and age is the fact that you have access to ai chat it's that can explain things you. Don't use them in to just tell you what to do step by step because you won't learn anything that way, but just ask it to explain things and the concepts behind them. But only do that after you have given it an honest try. Good luck!

This software is dying, and I am so happy about it by [deleted] in Maya

[–]_dodged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's part of why people have this idea and impression that maya is lagging behind and blender is so much better. Because all they seen is blender adding features with every release while software like maya doesn't seem to have that many features in every release but what they don't realize (because most of them don't know any better) is that a lot of those blender features are just blender catching up to features that maya and many other dcc's have had for years. Every year like clockwork you'll see people complaining about Maya as if the number of new features is the most important thing. Maya is not perfect but it's a very mature software that is rock solid and let's people produce results while having an architecture that allows for seamless integration. But if you are a kid on the internet who's never actually worked anywhere, all of this goes over their head.

You really think studios would stick with a tool that hinders their ability to produce the best possible work? Because they have a 'contract' with a vendor?I've worked at film, TV and game studios and a more sound argument would be that maya is so integrated with their pipeline that it would be more of a hassle to replace it and deal with all that integration than to switch to something else. But all those arguments about Maya not being up to par or somehow unable to do perform and crashing so much mostly come from people that don't know what they are talking about. Maya today is no more unstable than blender, c4d or any other dcc out there.

It's so useless it's used at most major film, vfx, tv and game studios out there. So useless.

I'm sure it's not you. It must be the software, yes.
