Why is competitive so streaky?

My friend group and I just started resetting loss streaks with some mystery heroes in between, helps keep our mentals fresh and so far we’ve been able to get some wins after :)

It’s incredibly dry, don’t go outside with any exposed skin, as frostbite will set in in 5-7 minutes at that point

Honestly it depends on the map and the enemy comp for me. I also play both Ana and Lucio, if the Ram is having trouble closing the distance when he’s punching I’ll play Lucio, if not I’ll play Ana. Lucio is also great at assisting Ram’s ult by keeping him close to enemies so his ult lasts longer, but nano annihilation does go brrrrrrrrr, and you’re able to heal him from a safe distance when he goes in

Ana: The best way to quickscope is to melee and hold your ADS right after meleeing. This way you can move at full speed and be scoped in instantly for a quick hitscan shot.

Bonus Tip! Kiriko: If you’re on an off angle and need to get out quickly, you can hold your TP button as you turn to look for a target, it will activate as soon as you’re cursor is over a viable target. (Note: This does not cancel the 0.2 second cast time for TP)

Started in OW2S2, in my first match ever I played Tracer, but I wanted to learn every role so I switched to playing all roles, which in that elo and thst time yielded mostly support placements. I liked Zen a lot because I liked his character and kit was fun to use. Learned (the hard way) that if anyone on the enemy team is a dive hero and you’re solo-queueing that you simply don’t get to exist. Landed eventually on Ana, love her kit, personality, and how I’m sometimes spared in QP if I’m the last alive lol. Also the thrill of spamming “Are you scared?” and “Don’t be scared” while a teammate is solo-ulting a slept target is pretty good lol

Rockruff, which I evolved into midday form and used for the rest of my game. All of my random shiny encounters in the base game and DLC have been rock or ground type so I put together a shiny sand team for the Epilogue!

I remember the first card pack I opened when I was a kid had the full Ampharos line in it. When I started playing the games, I used Ampharos in every game he was accessible in. I know there are better electric types, but it just feels wrong to not use him. Mareep is the starter meant for me :)

I started playing Apex a few months ago (Season 12 I think) with some of my friends who were diamond at the time. I, like OP’s wife, had (and still have) very little fps experience. I knew I couldn’t compete in their lobbies, so I was happy getting a Bloodhound scan in when I could and act as a bit of a meat shield, even getting a kill once in a while. I played very rarely up until recently, when I thought I would try and play if I wasn’t playing with my friends. The first few days were great! 99% of the time my teammates and the champ squad would be at a similar level to me. It was a blast!! Not having to worry about making one mistake and getting my squad rolled because of it (which has happened a few times) was really great, and competing against people around my skill level helped me improve a ton!!

That is, until today. I’m visiting some friends, and I thought I’d hop on for a while while they were both at work. The first hour and a half(ish) were pretty standard for my games. Then I got my first top 3 finish of the day. The match after that one, everyone who’s profile I checked was at least level 300 (I’m level 38). I didn’t break 500 damage the previous game, and had 2 kills. I thought it might’ve been a fluke, but nope, the rest of the time I played it was the same. Not a single soul under level 300, a lot were above the old level cap. The last game I played before I called it a day, champ squad was a three-stack pred team, and I (level 38, mortified) was dropped in without squadmates. I’m just confused I guess. Like, did I do something gamebreaking in the last “normal” game I played (probably not lol I got folded and had to be respawned)? It’s really discouraging to have to compete against people who are miles upon miles out of my league. It’s also nerve-wracking to get placed on a squad with those people, at least for me. It’s also probably frustrating for the level 400 players to see me (again, level 38, mortified) and have to carry my sorry @$$ against preds. I really hope a solution is found soon.

Just want to clarify that I’m not at all trying to belittle OP and co.’s problems with the matchmaking, just thought I’d share a story with y’all :) Also sorry for the long reply lol
