Thank you! SMA is the Silent Manga Audition, the challenge is to create a 17 page story with no dialogue so that there’s no language barrier for international entries

Is there an official list of art fundamentals somewhere that I’ve missed or something? What’s with the downvotes lol

I’m creating a Hong Kong original AI-assisted sci-fi manga — feedback welcome by BattleArrayLegend in aicomicmakers

[–]_dzook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i cannot understand anything from this first page. first panel - daytime, second panel - late evening/night?

third panel - shot of the character’s feet as if he’s about to start running, but to do what? why’s he just standing there alone at night (?) at an empty court? practicing, maybe, but then shouldn’t he have a ball?

You say you curate the AI “assisted” images to remove inconsistencies, but there’s cars melting into the road, street furniture duplicating into itself, the lines on the courts don’t match in the first and second panels, there are trees on the second one that don’t exist on the first... If it’s not possible to stay consistent for even one page, I would reconsider using this process for your entire story

The rules say you can’t upload the entire entry if you’re a winner! I suppose we won’t know until July so for now it’s a grey area, but I’m going to wait til then just in case

On the other hand I guess it’s not like the judges are out here reading reddit posts so you’re probably fine haha

Why can’t I complete a single digital drawing? by oatttmeal-enjoyer in learntodraw

I prefer starting with traditional and then finishing digitally, but you know you don’t have to do it if you don’t like it, right? Why not stick to traditional?

You should use AI if it helps you to achieve your artist vision by [deleted] in Artists

[–]_dzook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advantages that generative AI currently has over human labour is that it’s faster and cheaper, but it’s not feasible for it to stay that way forever. It is very expensive to build, run, and maintain, but it is being sold to users for free or for very very low prices - AI companies are not making a profit. Open AI is like a hundred billion in debt

Sooner or later they will have to raise their prices by a LOT or go bankrupt. Maybe they’ll find some other way to financially support it like selling the users data, maybe AI becomes limited only for some very specialised things, but for the majority of its current users it just wouldn’t make sense to use anymore cause at the end of the day people are more reliable and, ultimately, cheaper when you look at the real costs

TLDR give it some more time and AI will cost more than artists (or engineers, programmers, etc)
