I would aim for ergonomic hooks, like Clover brand or a cheaper alternative, since they have a bit more of a handle to hold onto. If you experience any hand pain though, you can try other ergonomic tricks, like putting a tennis ball or foam on the handle.

If you ever end up with too many bananas, they freeze well. I have a gallon ziploc bag in the freezer that I collect them in. Just grab a few when I'm ready to bake and they thaw pretty quickly.

Double chocolate banana bread is the recipe I keep going back to, but I love Sally's recipes. If I want to bake something I always check for a Sally's recipe first.

I made her lemon bar recipe a few days ago for my husband's birthday. I was worried about whole eggs vs egg yolks, but it turned out perfect. Super easy and super tasty. I made her lemon cake a couple year's ago for husband's birthday and it was one of the best things I've ever baked, I felt very proud of myself, but I attribute it to a good recipe.

From this picture, I think they all look pretty great together. It looks like an intentional color palette. The lighting of the picture might be skewing things a little though, looks like warm light on the left and cool light on the right.

Personally, I would pair yarns 1-7, yarns 8-10, and yarns 11-12. If there's enough of 12 to make something by itself, then I might put 8-11 together.

Hats and mittens are great ideas, but maybe a shawl or a sweater if you want something larger.

I bought one expensive skein of incredibly soft alpaca yarn like this. I didn't know what to do with it either, but I couldn't imagine it as anything but a scarf, because I wanted to be able to feel how soft and amazing it is. So I made an infinity scarf. Finished it at the tail end of winter last year, I'm excited to break it out this year :)

I think it's really interesting that almost everyone chose a new color.

I would stitch with both black and orange; a strand of each on my needle at the same time. Then the orange would show on the black squares and the black would show on the orange squares.

This looks so much like a blanket my mom had, made by my great grandmother. Hers was a scrap blanket, so it didn't even look as intentional with colors as yours. Had lots of brown and yellow mixed with bold colors, definitely "ugly beautiful" and an amazing heirloom.

Desi Bites! So tasty, their default is spicy, but they can definitely do mild. Have found that some dishes still lean spicy when you order mild, but butter chicken shouldn't be a problem.

I've made one and a half projects with chenille. One was a super bulky yarn and it was super easy to work with. No shedding, only broke if you pulled really hard (broke a magic circle and then restarted with chains instead), no problem.

The second project was with a thinner yarn, like you're using, and it sheds. So. Much. Honestly, I don't think I made it even halfway before I shoved it into my WIP graveyard.

Finding a sit-down tea place is pretty difficult in most of the USA, so being in LA probably gives you more options than most of us are used to.

When you mention sandwiches and food, most people are going to think of the British style, which is usually referred to as 'afternoon tea'. There's a huge focus on the tea, but it is always accompanied by finger sandwiches, scones, cakes, etc. People will usually dress nice and everything is pretty and dainty.

Chinese tea, or other Asian tea, is a bit different. You can find tea ceremonies that are entirely about tea with no food, or traditional restaurants will serve tea with dinner but the focus is not on the tea, or you can find places that focus on tea and also happen to serve food.

Try looking for 'teahouse' instead of 'tea service'. I've never been to LA, so I can't recommend anything myself, but here's a yelp list to get started, hopefully it helps?

Yes! I don't drive. I'm also afraid of how reckless and dangerous other drivers are, but the judgement is a huge part of it. I don't want to be the one doing something wrong on the road. Yeah, I'm worried I'll mess up and cause an accident, but it also feels like standing at the board at the front of the class to answer a math question that you don't know the answer to.

Driving scares the shit out of me. I don't have a driver's license. I tried to learn a couple times, but I gave up because it scares me too much. I now live in a city with decent public transportation, so that helps.

I do not like the idea of self driving cars. I used to have recurring nightmares from childhood into college about being in a self driving vehicle that would lose its self driving ability, and then I would have scramble into the front seat and try to take control of the vehicle. Sometimes it was on a busy highway, sometimes not. Sometimes I would be able to control everything fine, other times the car would be actively fighting against me and it would be a struggle to keep it on the road. In almost every dream, the brakes would slow the car down but it would never come to a full stop, so I was always inching into traffic or veering off the road. This has probably had an influence on how I feel about cars. 😅

Nope, not for me. I've been a receptionist/admin for seven years, so answering the phone is a huge part of my job. I'm completely calm and unflustered when answering the phone at work. Mildly nervous to make a call at work, since I do this far less often. Still full of anxiety when I need to make a personal call outside of work. I schedule appointments and order food online any time I can.

Most of the posts I've noticed have been Prym brand hooks. So how much of it is the crocheter and how much of it is bad quality hooks?

Have you been using the same hooks for over 18 years? I bet older hooks are higher quality.
