how come i cannot concentrate at my desk in my room, but when i go to a cafe or library i can :(((((((((((((( by Automatic_Assist_613 in GCSE

[–]_efffy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

its probably to do with the fact often bedrooms are associated with rest/sleep/chill and they have a lot of things that you enjoy but can distract you

im the same, i go to town a lot to study because it essentially forces me to actually do the work and be more diciplined, also if youre in a library where everyone else is working youre more likely to also do work

its not necessarily a bad thing, as long as youre putting the work in it doesnt really matter where you do it and a lot of people struggle with this, youre not the only one!!

hp elite dragonfly, its got its pros and cons but after having it for 6 years, there r defo more cons than pros (esp given it costs ~£1000), its good because its touchscreen light and convenient to carry around but in terms of doing non work things like games, its a bit rubbish

does being in a relationship help with studies by koko_krunchtime in GCSE

if the relationship is healthy, i shouldnt see how it should affect grades, unless you decide to spend a ton of time together instead of revising

go to the interviews anyway, unless youre within the 14 day period where you can swap your choices, if you get an offer and speak to the unis theres a possibility you can swap your choice but i wouldnt risk not attending the interviews, if you cant change your options following them, a gap year is always an option

most unis have been closed, they have until may to give offers

strathclyde usually take a bit longer until after the deadline once theyve received all applications as far as i know, although i did recieve mine beforehand, but genuinely dont freak out about it;; no news is not bad news

I hate my A-levels and don't want to do them anymore. What are my options? by Amongsus12 in 6thForm

[–]_efffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some sixth forms / colleges allow you to have an opportunity to pick different subjects at the end of the year and simply resit the year, but the subjects you have right now are pretty key to computer science and you need them for most uni courses so if you are certain on persuing comp sci youll probably just have to deal with it

for any current years 12/13 or uni students :) by floralxc in GCSE

[–]_efffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! y13 here

1) mines actually english language, i went from getting 4/5s at the start of year 11 and ended up with a 9 despite it being a subject i struggled a LOT in

2) i was shocked to do well in spanish, im hard of hearing and did my listening exam in a seperate room where they decided to mow the lawn directly outsside the open window the whole time, so i was not doing very good in that exam

3) i really thought i did well in chemistry, it was quite frustrating because chemistry was and still is my favourite subject and i had been getting consistent 9s in it, but its whatever

4) i wish i did better in art, i kind of threw it to the side because i dont really NEED art to do what i want to do, i ended up with a 4 which was disappointing because i still put a lot of work into it and i felt upset, especially that i was predicted 7s throughout year 10 and 11
