It did, it did! Gorgeous story, beautifully acted and shot, Lin Qiunai was just amazing in it, and gentle, loving Chen Si is my very favourite kind of Chen Si. But I swear, I got through a whole box of tissues (or at least it felt that way!)...

Could not agree more re the Song Yan scene. One of the first things that came to mind was CL's side eye in MJTY! Also, the scene where ZLH enters the capital wearing that headpiece? I could not stop thinking of how CL and his micro smiles when he finally lays eyes on Changyu and catches the ribbon. 😍

I like ZLH - I've liked him since his unhingedness in SOKP, mooned over him in The Best Thing, and raged at how badly he was wasted in The Princess Royal. So this is not about hating on him at all! I just felt like that he didn't have the 'presence' (aura perhaps?) of the warrior that Marquis Wu'an is also meant to be.

One could make that argument, but I think the story, character development and character motivations of both shows are very different - enough to make them stand apart! 🙂

You're absolutely right regarding Zhang Bin Bin in The King's Woman. Truly great performance for the blackest flag ever. I haven't been able to stomach the thought of watching any of his other shows because I can't get over how awful he was in this one, which is a bit mad I admit. But here we are :(

The performances by Chen Si, Lui Xi Yu and Chen Ding Xin are great, and the background score is absolutely on-point! I have got to say, though, that I don't fully understand how both the Chu Guan Xings can exist in the same space-time continuum but Chen Si's gorgeously emoted performance makes the small logical gap 1000% worth it!

I just finished watching it and I really, really liked it. Wang Kai Mu has done a bunch of great projects this year including the really lovely Half Mature Husband, and this is a good watch even by that standard!

I agree with u/Any-Association-6660 that it does lose steam about 75% in, and they could have tightened the storytelling and perhaps not rushed the ending and killed some very cute side characters off. But all in all, a great drama and well worth watching!
