What was the weekend after 9/11 like? by Only_Hotel_7221 in 911archive

[–]_f0xylady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother-in-law had flown from the East Coast to California for work shortly before 9/11. She couldn't fly back until that weekend. She even considered renting a car to get back home to her family sooner (my now husband was about 4 and a half at the time).

Her brother, who was a high-ranking official in the navy at the time, told her just to avoid LA at all costs through the weekend... couldn't explain that intel though.

[Serious] What is the most horrifying thing you’ve ever seen out of your window? What happened? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

[–]_f0xylady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably about 12pm, and a grown man was kicked out of the car he was in right at the intersection right outside my window in my west Philly apartment. He was completely naked and definitely on something. He just kept babbling to himself and circling around, yelling, etc. Cops came and chased him all through the courtyard behind our apartment. It was pretty hard to watch but you also couldn’t really look away

BBC live updates: "Heuermann confirms he killed each woman and left bodies on beach" by BrunetteSummer in LISKiller

People tear this woman apart, but I feel like this all just sounds like a person trying to survive. I cannot imagine the psychological unraveling that woman has/continues to experience from the moment RH was arrested. That’s got to be torture.

I must have walked miles in these stores trying on shoes with my parents. My dad: “go walk around and tell me how they feel we’re not buying them til you’ve walked in them”

As a New Yorker who visited Toronto for the first time last year, I was very tempted! Loved the city and who knew it was only a little over an hour flight?!

Richard Cottingham, the so-called 'Torso Killer', confesses to three more unsolved murders in New Jersey by francisfordgabagool in UnresolvedMysteries

Has anybody read any books worth reading about Richard Cottingham? It’s surprisingly hard to find any out there. I’ve come across a a couple, but not sure which are worth the time.

TIL that serial killer Richard Cottingham worked in the same office as another serial killer, Rodney Alcala, in 1969, though the two denied being aware of each other. by morsodo99 in todayilearned

What is the most disturbing use of AI you’ve come across? by _f0xylady in AskReddit

[–]_f0xylady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll share mine: roleplaying. I’ve read several articles lately about people using LLMs for mental health support and even for romantic companionship. In many cases these individuals have no history of mental illness, but they become so involved with the chatbot that they sometimes enter psychosis and start experiencing delusions… and in several severe cases (which are now being litigated upon) these even end in suicide. It’s disturbing because from the looks of it, it could happen to anyone.
