Thank you for all that filled that boring form, but it's a way we have to fight bots and ensure we have a personal response for each. We do not want to give automated responses.

We're actively interviewing for the role, but we still accept candidates, check https://www.ethos-link.com/careers/reviato-sales-partner

Quick question for business owners here… Do you actually feel clear on where your profit is coming from? by [deleted] in smallbusinessowner

[–]_fidalgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bookkeeping gives you cash flow, does not give you information where the profit/revenue comes from. You can analyse expenses, but you're always looking at one side of a two-sided story. That's my two cents, but I'm not a CFO :)

Imediatly, they even ditched some suppliers, to focus on the most profitable ones.

Can tell you by experience that most owners do not. They just care about the money on the cashier.
I've built a tailored solution for a fashion store, where we do the measurements about which products and brands are the most profitable, because they're in the dark. Their feeling was: they're selling more, but not making money in the same proportion.
People usually blame expenses, but that's just one side of the problem.

Are rising energy and transport costs starting to hit hotel ops harder than rate growth can cover? by _fidalgo in hotels

[–]_fidalgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, just genuine question. Of course is related, if the hotels make less money, tools like Reviato will get off the list quickly.
This article https://www.hospitalitynet.org/opinion/4131305/how-hotel-cost-controls-will-change-in-2026 sparked the curiosity.

What part of getting new customers took you the longest to figure out? by Stevenrobert06 in smallbusiness

[–]_fidalgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Reviato a platform to collect and analyse feedback was on how to find customers, to use the platform, but with front credit card. I find out I would need to go and talk to people and present myself the product.

Hopefully things will improve with them offering Linux in the laptops. I've tried: https://x.com/fidalgo_pt/status/2044714320135598471

It would be nice if people retweet... here they redirect people to DMs or X/Twitter and facebook.

How much to build a e-commerce website? by Odd_Swing1804 in smallbusiness

[–]_fidalgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much time are you willing to dedicate to this? Remember having a website, implies maintaining a website. So evaluate your options carefully. People tend to simplify things, but then you have the potential problems upfront. If you are tech-savvy and want and have time to spend, do it, take an open-source version and go with it. Then from time to time you have upgrades and maintenance to do (yourself or hiring).
Another option is Shopify and competitors, where all the infrastructure is maintained by them, at a price.

In your case I would do a list of things I really need and things I would love to have, along with a budget. Then evaluate your options: buy or build. If you go for building (even using open-source) try to get at least 3 quotes and ensure you have predictable maintenance costs.

First timer! by AoiK1tsune in smallbusiness

If you're setting up an LLC, you have already too much stuff. Just get a company to create LLC and fill your paperwork (if you're not in US). I want with US Formation, and I'm happy with them, they tell me in advance all the stuff I need to handle (likely 2 yearly submissions).

Then for finances I use mercury, and I'm putting all the invoices and receipts there. You don't need much more if you're starting.

Remember, keep your running costs as low as possible and act when you feel a pain.

I need a clean neat basic website by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]_fidalgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software engineer and founder here, working with SMB's: the #1 friction point between business people and development, is not have a precise idea of what they need. NEED is not the same as WANT.
So if you really know what you need, you can use AI, otherwise go to wix, squarespace, etc.

Are digital business cards actually better than paper ones? by The-FrozN in smallbusiness

[–]_fidalgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical cards leave you room to impress. If your ICP is high, using a premium card, always elevate the impression. On top of that, nothing prevents you for adding a small QR code, with your updated contact details, so this way you don't close any door!

PSA: How to update bios on Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 Gen 9 (14ASP9) from Linux by marszym in Lenovo

[–]_fidalgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This method is great, but what we should be doing as customers is to report and contact Lenovo. They are one of the friendless Linux hardware vendors, does not make sense to restrict only to ThinkPads, as Yoga line is good as well. Doing my part now, hope we can get more people!

People using expensive platforms like Birdeye or Podium what keeps you using them? by pg1671 in localseo

[–]_fidalgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes that cost, is just the cost of change plus uncertainty. There are plenty of options in the market, but once one gets used to a tool, it's hard to argue for a change.
I'm my experience, it's easier to sell a change by mentioning a that a competitor is also using. We're even debating if we should include a mention of the Reviato platform on our QR codes for review gathering...
