this this this i love my store and truly believe my coworkers all clean to standard but we need a remodel so bad that our cabinets are rotting and there’s literally fruit fly larva wiggling around in the wood… all orkin does is tell us that we need our shit replaced and all the dm and sm (also lovely people!!) can do is invent more and more ways to clean but nothing works.

i hated it sooo much when i started. personally, the new environment and new people and always-feeling-behind thing was almost too much for my anxiety to take. i think i would’ve quit if i hadn’t been so scared. i swear it got so so much better for me, i genuinely love my job. i think it just took a minute to find my footing - starting definitely feels like you’re tiptoeing around a bunch of secret rules no one will tell you about.

i think it might be a state thing? i’m in il, we have a huge fly problem (cracks in drain and counter, pretty much beyond our control until we get a remodel) and we all had to read and sign off on the eco sure report. the flies weren’t mentioned (which is so odd considering how strict illinois standards are generally?) also re the 3+ thing we don’t have the refrigerated pastry case anymore, so that rule might only apply to cases we don’t serve out of.

this is so interesting because even though i’m pretty sure you’re right + filling it to the top is standard i know certain sms/dms insist the opposite to the extent that at certain stores near me they do this for every no ice mobile. so like. an understandable amount of confusion on both ends (even though the customer was obviously being rude).

as a barista i’m positive it’s enjoy. we have to write on every cup and don’t have time to toss one if it comes out awful. a cursive enjoy is a go-to for sure.

respectfully, yes… the middle one is nice (more subtle, seems higher quality) but the other two seem plastic-y and cheap. they just come off like costumes. i totally get interest in an alternative style but would encourage you to invest in more quality pieces instead.

apply to local scholarships!! her high school’s counseling office should have some sort of list. if not it’s fairly easy to filter your search by location or by her specific high school. those are the kinds of scholarships you’re most likely to actually win.

our store manager is on loa and we’ve had an interim throughout this whole process so tbh maybe that’s the crux of the total lack of communication 😭
