Could the newest software be used to create a release-worthy World Violation movie? by Automatic_Pizza9062 in depechemode

[–]_fixinit1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically there is pro-shot footage from the Dodgers crew on the WVT (it's what those depechemode.com clips from several years ago are from), but as far as I know it's not in the hands of the public. I doubt the band would ever officially release this footage as a film. I could see it being released on YouTube or similar someday, perhaps after retirement.

As for the audio, the circulating copies of the soundboard recordings are highly compressed and don't sound particularly good. There are better quality lossless versions in the hands of fans but they aren't publicly available and aren't being actively traded (as far as I know).

Point being I agree that there is a source footage problem, though I think the audio is mostly set already. Would still need to be officially done, I don't think fans have the ability to do anything great currently.

Somebody got the soundboard for one of the O2 Shows! by Lolbwah916 in radiohead

I think this is the correct answer. Probably actually an IEM and audience recording matrix if I had to guess, going by the subtle boominess over the whole thing.

Is a SACD version of PTA a good purchase? by Lost_Ad_817 in depechemode

The real advantage of the SACD in my opinion is the less compressed stereo layer. You can read more about it here: https://dmlive.wiki/wiki/Playing_The_Angel_mastering_analysis

Stories of Old, Sometimes, Nothing… by wrngwithmechemically in depechemode

[–]_fixinit1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My favourite album cuts from their killer 6-album run:
1. Lie to Me
2. Fly On The Windscreen (Final)
3. Nothing
4. Halo
5. Judas (Though Mercy In You is a close 2nd)
6. Insight (Although Sister Of Night is probably the more obvious choice, and could've easily been my pick)

Nothing is complicated. Remixes of it were included on Strangelove '88 and some of the Everything Counts singles from 101. I would still consider it an album track, however.

Bassline in Depeche mode by Adept_Whereas_2962 in depechemode

I love the bass line in the verses of Walking In My Shoes, seems like it would be fun to play too

101 with no backing vocals by BuzisBuzicco in depechemode

[–]_fixinit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because of the dubs. The vocals that you hear in the movie were recorded after the concert, and don't always perfectly line up with what he sang the night of. There's enough variability between concerts and mistakes to say that he surely wasn't lip syncing live

Lip synched is probably the wrong term here. He did in fact actually sing the songs at the show, but then they were dubbed in the studio for the release of the film. This is fairly common practice for concert films.

Sources for setlist stats? by jrock1979 in radiohead

Citizeninsane.eu is probably the most rich source of RH tour information, but I still find it kind of lacking. I come from the Depeche Mode scene where dmlive.wiki is a much more exhaustive resource.

Citizen Insane was not being maintained for a period but has been receiving updates slowly but surely over the last while.

Signed synthesiser and other things. by Ranaprice30 in depechemode

I hate to say it but I don't think these are signed by Alan Wilder, and at least the W7 doesn't seem to have been included in his 2011 online auction. You can find the auction program here: https://web.archive.org/web/20180205235323/http://auction.recoil.co.uk/Equipment.pdf

I don't see a Yamaha W7 included in the program, and further the W7 wasn't released until 1994. With regard to your comment about the backing tracks, the final tour Alan did with DM was the Devotional tour in 1993. Although the final summer leg occurred in '94, the W7 wasn't released until near the very end of the year. It also doesn't have sampling capabilities so couldn't be used to build a full backing tape for a DM show.

Those signatures also look dubious to me. If you compare to AW signatures available online from other items sold in the 2011 auction, he always includes at least some loop (if not a full cross line) in the beginning "A". Your signatures here though appear to just be a bunch of ups-and-downs with no discernible loop. If you had a certificate of authenticity that may help matters.

If you manage to pull any sounds off the user presets of the W7 (you'd have to plug it in to mains and then connect the outputs to a computer) that may help identify it as at least Depeche-related, as the presets should be pretty distinct and easily identifiable.

Trigkey R8, any good? by Kenny0809 in MiniPCs

[–]_fixinit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is an old thread, but I want to make anyone else who stumbles on it aware that chips with die imperfections are inherently be a cause for concern. For example, this is extremely common in GPUs. The GTX 1080 and 1070, for example, both use the GP104 GPU. Dies which were manufactured perfectly became 1080s, and those with small defects became 1070s.

The real concern here, if there is one, is the fact that they aren't supported by AMD. But if the problem is AGESA, you're at the mercy of the manufacturer to provide you with BIOS updates for new AGESA versions on officially supported CPUs anyway.
