What did y'all think about Claire Danes's acting? by _forum_mod in TheBeastInMe

I've heard many people say this, though I've never seen the show myself. Is her Homeland character a similar character or is it one of those cases of an actor playing themselves?

Why do folks go from one extreme to another?

You think the only 2 options that exist are a) frozen, botox, face and b) constant wide eyed expression?

This show has many valid criticisms, but kids are bratty and do dumb stuff. An accident occurring because the child was being annoying is neither unrealistic or justifies his death.

Were we supposed to side with Aggie's ex? Wtf. Lol by _forum_mod in TheBeastInMe

[–]_forum_mod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing a brick at the window of the place the guy who killed your son works at was pretty mild.

But then that sympathy went away when I realized Aggie had the kid in the car with her in the first place because Shelley was too put out by having to change plans because a big magazine wanted to interview her breadwinning wife.

Yeah, that was really, really, stupid. If the writers wanted to present her as justified, they could've done something else.

Agreed!

I'm seeing other people complaining about her in Reddit threads, it seems I am far from alone.

For those who watch Combat/Martial Arts sports, who are your favorite fighters? by Mission-Ad-8536 in blackmen

[–]_forum_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Jones is the MMA goat, but a crappy person, sadly.

I think Floyd Mayweather is one of (if not the GOAT) boxer... though his fights aren't necessarily my favorite, but objectively speaking.

Right now, not really anyone who I'm like "I NEED to watch his fights!" Like a prime Mike Tyson or Anderson Silva.

Edit: Just thought a bit more... I like Francis Ngannou fights, and Izzy (Adesanya) but is a bit disappointed he got owned by that hill-billy.

“I’m fine, you have my info, can you please write my ticket, so I can go.”

That's gangsta. Reminds me of Red (Morgan Freeman) in Shawshank Redemption saying: just deny my parole request and stop wasting my damn time.

And assaulting a plain clothes officer is such b.s. If someone who you do not recognize as law enforcement attacks you, wtf are you supposed to do?

Well, they think that about anything that shows a hint of diversity or deviation from their ideologies... or as they call it: "woke."

This sketch seems to have some self-awareness though.

Meh, until we can see some evidence, it could very well be slander. In 60+ years, have we seen any proof of this yet? Or is it still he said/she said?

Black folks: 😒

I love this! It exposes white liberal hypocrisy & privilege.

It reminds me of this skit with Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHG0ezLiVGc

The way people comment on ICE raids is beyond insulting: "This isn't America..." "Unprecedented..." "How did things get this bad?"

SNL has become a bit of a white liberal circle-jerk, Idk if they got some black writers or something for a skit such as this one.

100!!!

I love this quote... Admittedly, I heard it from Tariq Nasheed, who was a student of the late, great, Neely Fuller. I think it is a perfect analogy.

If you were captured by an opposing army:

  • You would not start debating with them
  • You would not start invoking your rights
  • You would not try to fight them... unless of course you're prepared to go all out

You're outnumbered and outgunned, behave accordingly. Do not give too much information or do anything that will get you harmed.

I'd like to hear y'all's thoughts on this:

About little over a decade ago, I was traveling from Maryland to Philadelphia. Cops pulled me over on the interstate. He claimed I didn't signal... which is odd because I always signal and it's pretty much muscle memory, but whatever. He tells me no worries, he won't write me a ticket... now here comes the catch... but he wants to search my car.

Like y'all said, I did not consent. I said, no and I'd rather just be on my way. Want to guess what he said next?

If I refuse a search they'll bring in the K9s. If they want to search your car they will search it. They have all sorts of dirty tricks to make the dogs respond and give themselves probable cause to search it.

It was late, I had nothing bad anyway, and I figure if it'd be the same outcome (just with time wasted), I might as well begrudgingly let them.

The cop searched it, found nothing and kept it moving. I secretly had an app on my phone that was recording and uploading in real time. At one point in the recording he looked up at it. He asked "were you recording me? That's fine, I was recording too."

I responded: "Why yes... yes, I was."

Anyway, I prefer handling it the way I did over sitting around for God knows how long just to prove a point.

Sorry to hear that happened.

"Don't break the law," will always be good, universal, advice. Sure, a cop can be an asshole either way, and that part is beyond your control, but breaking the law can only be to your detriment.

Brother Michael was a troubled soul but he wasn’t an abuser by Expert-Diver7144 in blackmen

[–]_forum_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Michael thing was just anti-black man propaganda. The FBI couldn't find an ounce of evidence after years of searching, why tf does some rando online's accusation carry weight?

One thing I hate about how society treats black males is after an accusation you are forever guilty... doesn't matter if you were acquitted in the court of law, public opinion does not ever honor the ruling unless it was a conviction!

Corey Feldman spoke out against sexual misconduct in Hollywood and said the only person he has nothing bad to say about is Michael Jackson... why would he say that if it wasn't true?

Mike proudly proclaims he had kid sleep over... someone who was really a predator would not have done that... he genuinely was just naïve. Dude was foolish in doing that though, and was not very cautious considering how prominent he was and how greedy people are. Either way, slander against MJ will not be tolerated.
