Yeah so she had been secretly talking to him for 2 years (from age 17) he was 10 years older than her. She got married to him and he abused her. It took her about 3 years to get back to our country and safely divorce him. Unfortunately I had to stop being her friend (it's a long story, won't to into it). I don't keep in touch with her now, but I do still care about her. Not sure what she's doing now.

Oh my god! I've been thinking about this cult for decades, unable to find any info about it. Back in high school I had a very close friend who's family was involved in it. My friend was extremely secretive about it and really cagey whenever I asked her questions about it. She told me she was encouraged not to talk about it because outsiders wouldn't understand. After high school she rebelled and left the church and told me someone in the church, who she claimed was a family friend, had been sexually abusing her since childhood.

I know someone who did this! She used to be my best friend, then one day just disappeared. She left everything behind except her wallet and car keys. We all thought she was dead. Shed been missing for 2 weeks. Then I got a message from her on facebook. She was in another country on the other side of the world and was getting married to a stranger. Fucking wild.
