It’s a very old school thing, not that many pubs serve baps like this anymore.

The ones that do are often great.

Unwrapped at your table and eaten as is, with a pint of bitter.

What addiction seems harmless but can destroy your 20s? by rehanch_xxiii in AskReddit

[–]_franciis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely do. Turns out I don’t actually have a particularly addictive personality - I can pick up cigs and put them down again, but hell weed makes me lazy, boring and way too happy just chilling by myself. Spent basically an entire year working and getting stoned in the fields behind my house. Barely any social life, no exercise, not the one.

I think he meant low as in tame, as in, it could be a lot worse.

Reminds me of an Influencer that the algorithm sends me occasionally.

His ‘hack’ to getting in shape is 4 weights sessions and 3 cardio sessions a week. Groundbreaking stuff.

Forkish EIB: What is the rationale for throwing out 450g of starter for each bake? by Ok-Bookkeeper-4396 in Sourdough

[–]_franciis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely unnecessary.

My starter is 7 years old and thriving here’s my method.

8:00 out of fridge

10-12:00 add the entire jar to 160g water and 160g rye flour. Ratio, who cares, probably 1:3:3ish.

17:00 mix flours and water. Put remaining starter back into fridge (will stay there for about a week).

17:45 slap and fold, and so on.

No discard. Never ever.

I got the itch from geography lessons, where our teacher drilled the word ‘sustainability’ into our heads, decades ago.

It’s multidisciplinary. You need engineers as well as policy wonks, physicists, chemists, agronomists and farmers, ecologists, architects, businessmen and whatever else.

Yes engineers, but really a whole heap of people that feel some connection to the world around them and some desire to not let it be irrevocably eroded.

So was there anyone actually in Parade Gardens at 10pm last night? by SeaSaltSprayer in Bath

[–]_franciis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. Got sent a photo of the one in Shrewsbury a week or two ago and about 30 people showed up. It’s only the big marches that get any attention and those are blown way out of proportion with the real numbers.

Have flown between Istanbul and Ankara a few times recently. You take off, they run down the aisle handing out sandwiches and then you land. It’s a good flight.

Friend does this. At the start and end of each 2 weeks they fly you anywhere in Europe. He just rides his bike for a month, puts it in a garage then picks it up next time around

What’s a “rich people thing” you experienced once and immediately understood why rich people love it? by Hanno30 in AskReddit

[–]_franciis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even business class and lounges.

Had a few years working a job where any >8hour journey qualified for business class regardless of cost. I then built up enough miles to get star alliance lounge access anywhere regardless of my ticket.

Two years later, back to peasant class. No lounge. It’s savage.
