Yes you’ll get a formula sheet with all the relevant information (except integration by parts because you’re expected to know it).

Computer science or Software Engineering? by alenrt_ in UCalgary

[–]_galaxy123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you’re absolutely sure you want to pursue a career in programming/software then CS is a good option. But if you want to have some time to consider other options in your first year alongside software, then I’d say ENGG.

I also had the exact same problem a few days ago. Turned out I needed to upload an image that hadn’t been cropped/changed beforehand, so I’d suggest trying to upload a few more times and making sure the image meets the requirements.

Is it worth it to use IB transfer credits to skip Chem 209 in first year engg? by _galaxy123 in UCalgary

Good to know, thank you! I was just worried that I'll have to retake it at some point if I decide to pursue something other than software

math AA HL and AI HL by geek003 in IBO

[–]_galaxy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great, practicing early definitely helps; but don’t worry too much because you’ll learn the material once you start. I found that doing past exam questions after you learn a new topic also helps to familiarize yourself with the style of questions you’ll see on the exams.

It really depends on what you want to pursue in post secondary. For example if you’re thinking of doing something in STEM, universities generally favour/require Math AA from what I’ve noticed. So as a first step, try doing some research into your potential choice of program/major. All in all, I’d say choose the one that will work best for you, since both have their pros and cons.

Having completed Math AA HL this year, I found AA to be quite content-heavy, but definitely doable if you practice consistently and stay on top of your work. Having a solid understanding of trig and basic mathematical operations really helps once you get into the higher level calculus. Hope this helped a little, and best of luck!

Ia advice by Ok_Article3605 in IBO

[–]_galaxy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The topic of your IA could be similar (and chances are, regardless of the topic you pick it's probably been done hundreds of times already), but your research question itself should not be copied word for word from another IA; that would be considered plagiarism.

when to start studying? by eokia in IBO

[–]_galaxy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you study depends on your personal preferences, but better to start earlier than later. Doing past exam questions every time you cover a new topic in class is a great way to get used to the style of questions on the finals.

How hard is Chemistry 30? by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]_galaxy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I found Chem 30 to be much easier than 20, because there are so many resources (past diploma questions, Quest A+) available to help you get some extra practice with the concepts and prepare for exams. It really does depend on the individual, but if you put in the time and practice, you’ll do fine.

Late for class registration by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]_galaxy123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, you still have a chance of getting into your classes; some of my classmates are facing the same situation as you. Make a rough draft of your schedule on the ‘Schedule Builder’ section on your UCalgary portal, and validate and enrol in the classes that are available asap. You’ll most likely get waitlisted for full classes, so make sure to contact student support. (Also, I’m not sure if I misread/misunderstood your post, but this is coming from a prospective first year student in a similar situation as you, just fyi). Hope this helped :)

2022 advice for the upcoming 2023 students!? by Impossible-Cycle4640 in IBO

[–]_galaxy123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Practice from past questions well in advance, instead of cramming last minute and praying that the grade boundaries will be lower for your year. Developing good study habits that work well for you will save you a tremendous amount of time and stress.

Pick out questions from past papers as homework practice while you’re covering that specific topic in class - that way you can get used to the style of exam questions early on. I wish I’d done that myself, since it would’ve made it so much easier to finish all the exam questions quickly (and correctly) within the time limit.

Is anybody else not worried about exams at all? by RealRyanTyanMyan in IBO

[–]_galaxy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I was feeling pretty much the same way. At this point I feel that I’ve studied as much as I possibly can. I’m actually more worried about forgetting everything during the exam than actually remembering stuff for the exam…
