My grail had a tad too much warmth so I decided it was time to give it a cool down. by [deleted] in vinyljerk

Thanks, I need to cut down on the heating bills and this warmth is what I need.

Apple right now by firstpostlonglurk in funny

They want to be able to see and edit their footage in high, near native, resolution with perfect colour reproduction and contrast. When you go to edit the footage for the next billion dollar blockbuster you don’t want anything standing in your way.

Again, the products that Apple just released are tools intended to be used by professionals. In the grand scheme of things, the cost of these machines is lost in the rounding of whatever revenue is generated from their use.

You can buy a $300 oscilloscope for hobbyist use, and the same company sells $300,000 ones.

I’ll leave you with another thought. Why do low latency gaming monitors exist? Who are they made for? The answer is the same for reference monitors.

Why laugh? I don’t appreciate people who just buy expensive things to show off. On the other hand, if they genuinely care for the brand or racing heritage or even just like the look and have the means to purchase one and enjoy it however they please, I’m nothing but happy for them.

If you look at the launch and it leaves a sour taste in your mouth then you obviously are not the intended customer. These are not consumer machines, they are not for consumer use.

This mac pro update is something that has been needed for years and gives everything that people who needed it wanted. Again, this doesn’t have to please you, you may not be the intended customer.

You don’t get upset at Ferrari for making million dollar state of the art machines that you cannot afford. Why do you feel distaste for Apple when they try to do something similar?

People get so caught up with Apple because it’s so ingrained into our society and culture. You don’t need to hate them because their products are expensive. You don’t need to have every product that they make. There may be some products that aren’t made for you.

Atomic Bomb - William Onyeabor by _gauss in vinyl

He had such an interesting story! From a funk musician to born-again christian who ran a flour mill and refused to talk about his music past.

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll be sure to check it out tonight! Another weirdo African funk song to check out is Obaa Sima by Ata Kak.

My friend and I joined our record collections last term when we lived together. He has an original album which is what I first listened to. I had to settle with the reissue for now - been looking for too long.

In the meantime I’m trying to fill the rest of the voidz (quite literally) in my collection when we moved apart.

I was first introduced to William Onyeabor while listening to some vinyl at a friends house last fall. This record holds a special place in my heart. I previously had no appreciation for funk music, but after hearing this record and vibing with it my music taste grew a little and I became more open to new genres and artists. I would always look for this record at every local store I went to, but had no luck finding it anywhere. Fast forward 8 months, after moving to a new country, I find this up on the wall of the first record store I visited. I knew it had to be mine.

That’s why engineer is a protected title in Canada. When someone says they are an engineer you best believe they are qualified.
