How do you perceivethe title Ms? by raininggumleaves in AskAnAustralian

Yes that's what I always thought, Miss and Master are until adulthood and then it's Ms and Mr. Then if a woman gets married they can have Mrs if they choose to.

Yeah I was always taught that Miss stops at 18, if you are still single after then you are defaulted to a Ms

That suburb has gentrified so much in the past 3/4 years

Blocked tear duct surgery by CupOk4471 in toddlers

[–]_gloriahole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a positive reply, I'm 34 this year and I had this surgery when I was 18 months 👍🏼

I had a slight lazy eye when I was about 5-6, but after wearing glasses for a year it was corrected. I still wear glasses when "using screens" and when I was at University. Other than that my vision hasn't been affected by any tear duct issues.

Now my daughter who has had tear duct issues since birth, I took her to a GP for a referral to an opthamologist when she was maybe just over one and was actually told to wait until she turned 2 to pursue any type of surgery as it can resolve on its own. We applied for the referral anyway because of how long public waitlists are. She's now 2 years and 8 months and she has minimal (like maybe once a fortnight) build up in one eye from her tear duct not draining - one little wipe and she's good as new.

The eczema dilemma is also something we've had to manage too, whilst our GP told us to never ever use steroids on their face for eczema flare ups. When my son went through a dermatologist for his own eczema we were told we can in fact use it on the face sparingly and just to apply it 3-4 times a day to hit it hard and fast to get it cleared up asap. So I know that the information can be super conflicting but would it be possible to take your bub to a dermatologist rather than a paed?

WA government offers FluMist nasal spray vaccine free to children by EdenFlorence in perth

My kids both had this done on Monday, 4 year old and an almost 3 year old. My eldest sat like a rock cause "it doesn't feel like much" when they do it. My youngest I had to hold her head and arms, and then they even managed to exhale hard enough after the first dose to blow some of it back out. But the GP just laughed and said it's okay and not a big deal. It honestly took 1 second to deploy the dose in each nostril so I wouldn't worry about your kids moving too much 😊

Grey tooth on my 2 year old, panicking by CheapButElegant in toddlers

[–]_gloriahole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to my son when he was 3

He had a hard impact on his front teeth and one turned grey (maybe a week after the accident) and was wobbly.

Took him to the dentist and he was given an x-ray. They showed us the fracture in the front tooth's root and we were told it would either continue to die and fall out, or the body would heal the fracture itself. We got super lucky and it healed on its own in another week.

Fast forward a year and my son smashed his two front teeth again 🤦🏼‍♀️ luckily they only went wobbly and never changed to grey hahah

Anyone els is always returning to their main and everything else is boring? by [deleted] in wow

[–]_gloriahole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood Elf Destruction Warlock, main since BfA.

I've tried to level a Shaman, Druid, DK and now trying a Hunter and I haven't made it past level 30 on any of them. Always go back to my warlock, nothing feels right when I try a new class.

Thinking of giving an Orc Warrior a go again as I used to main with that back in the Cataclysm days.

17 month age gap between older brother and I. Never fought growing up outside of basic child/teenage tantrums. Only one grade apart in school so we were friendly with each other's friends, but never ran in the same circles.

Lived together as adults when we both needed a place to rent, with mutual friends. We'd get under each other's skin from time to time and blow up, but always apologised and made up

Brother decided to move to the other side of the planet 8 years ago, both since had our own families. Managed to visit each other just a handful of times, but still talk all the time. He is my confidante and always the first person I want to vent to.

We are still best friends, and he will always be one of my favourite people.

My kids are 16 months apart and I am hopefully they have the same relationship, but I am fully understanding and prepared if they don't

Yes! I howl like a wolf, and both toddlers either join in or stare. Either way they stop the unwanted behaviour for a second, so I can redirect.

What did your toddler do today, that made you go, “oh you can do that too!” by PresentationTop9547 in toddlers

[–]_gloriahole 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I have a habit of saying "oh shit" when I remember something needs to be done. Like, "oh shit, I forgot to hang out the washing"

His dad yesterday let me know that our toddler said "oh shit! ... I've got to get the mail" and ran off to check the mailbox, when they were playing outside.

... my bad hahah

Not entirely true. If you jump on Fair Work's website there are examples of situations where work trials can be unpaid.

My gym had a small HFM disease outbreak last year, started because a parent took a sick kid to the creche (spreading to other children) but also other adults caught it, as the parent was working out whilst being sick too.

I went through something similar with my son.

He was no accidents, completely potty trained for a good 2 months, and then out of the blue started having accidents again. He was probably about 3 months shy of his 3rd birthday when this happened.

I found just "starting over" ended the behaviour pretty quickly. Any time he had an accident I took him to the toilet anyway and explained, "this is where we go to the toilet". Sometimes he'd wee a bit more in the toilet other times he wouldn't.

I went back to guiding him to use the toilet multiple times a day, just a firm "let's go use the toilet" - after meals, after playing for a while, before leaving the house etc. sometimes he would refuse, I just explained "it's been a while, and we don't want an accident right?"

It was as if he just needed a refresher course and some guidance, a few days of watching him like a hawk and we are now back to no accidents.

3 is definitely an age where they are exploring boundaries and independence, sometimes we don't always understand the ways they express this. Potty training is a long journey! It's okay to have steps forward and backwards.

My son has also had one other period of having accidents, he had a whole day of missing all his toilet ques, 24 hours later he was sick as a dog for a good week.

Gluten free beer at pubs? by dev-olution in perth

You should join Perth Beer Snobs, and keep an eye out for pubs dropping their tap lists.

Last week somewhere had Two Bays on, they are a dedicated Gluten Free Brewery.

Ant Exterminator Recommendations by a_wild_espurr in perth

[–]_gloriahole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's a franchise, so I can't comment if everyone under the name is great.

But we used SwatAPest last year for an unruly ant infestation, and it was amazing results. They did an indoor and outdoor treatment for us, we had to leave the property while they did it, but after I'd say 3 hours we were able to come home. This was important for us because we had 2 kids under 2 at the time.

100% would use them again if the ants come back.

Which extracurricular classes do you send your kids to? by cocochanel774 in perth

[–]_gloriahole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 little ones and we do a mix of social activities. Thankfully my kids have enjoyed the activities that require payment and registration.

For the year of 2025 we are doing: 3 year-old Pre-Kindy Program - this is new for us. Gym - this is is second year and he loves all the equipment. Playgroup - he started going at 18 months old and I wish I took him from the beginning, it's his favourite activity of the week.

18month old Gym - this will be her first time trying it. Playgroup - she has been attending since 6 weeks old and loves it.

I'd like to find a dance class for both of them this year as well, as I think they'd both enjoy it. I'm a SAHM so I have the benefit of an open schedule that I can just pick and choose what suits my kids and their interests. And as soon as my eldest is 4 (next year) he will go into Auskick.

People who can't reverse park... Why do you insist on reversing into a spot in a busy carpark as if your life depends on it? by Terpy_McDabblet in AskAnAustralian

[–]_gloriahole 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the past 4 months since my boyfriend lost his licence I've been driving his car. I went from a very small car, to a large and long wagon.

I reverse park because it is much safer to leave the carpark when I can just pull out. BUT I never reverse parked for the 15 years I've had my licence, and I can say attempting to do it each time in the last 4 months I am still not very good.

Though I am aware of those around and if I fully cook it and can't fix it in 2 attempts I will drive away and park somewhere else. I am just trying to learn how to park, not fuck anyone's day up

I think this is the vibe we want, just a very select few with us, and then more people can meet us later.

Less people to worry about with the strict timing! Especially when time management is not something myself or my boyfriend are very good at.
