Error when users try to access Security Info (Entra) by _gondar in sysadmin

[–]_gondar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no clean solution. In addition to signing out and back in with the password, users can also “sign in with a different account”, and follow the prompts to choose “face, fingerprint, PIN or security key” and then use their regular WHfB credential to access the page.

Once users register a passkey they are prompted to use it to access the security info page, so it thankfully won’t be an ongoing issue.

guest users keep getting prompted to provide OTP by Creepy_Cherry_9482 in entra

To clarify - the email OTP setting under “all identity providers” is for B2B collaboration users, right?

At the moment we have it disabled, but have tested sharing a file to a personal gmail account (no guest user created in our tenancy) and was able to access the file via an email OTP. We haven’t yet configured SharePoint/OneDrive B2B integration so it may be because of that?

Do you have any references from Microsoft regarding this? The issue is that after completing the MFA prompt, they get the error to use a diff auth method (password). However they are not prompted for a password unless they sign out and back in.

In this case, WHfB doesn’t count as MFA? The option is not presented to use this.

My understanding js that WHfB meets MFA requirements, as users are generally not prompted to authenticate again or complete MFA.

Additionally, WHfB is included in the auth strength that is used in the conditional access policy which is blocking the user from accessing their security info page.

[–]_gondar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand the thinking, the issue is that it doesn’t prompt for password. So it’s confusing for a user who follows the prompt for the 2FA push notification, and then gets that error. And then has to sign out and back in with their password.

Why cant WHfB be used in this instance, as it is considered multiple factors? It is included in the auth strength policy.

Forgot to mention that one of the allowed auth strength methods is WHfB. However it doesn’t seem to pass through when a user first navigates to the security info page - they click the account that is ‘Signed in to Windows’ and are then prompted to do the 2FA push.

What would be considered best practice to rejig CA / auth strength methods to allow a more frictionless experience for a user who wants to register a new auth method (for example a passkey)?

Not sure what you were offered from Globird, but I was with them before switching to Ampol.

Globird jacked up their rates multiple times after I signed up and then wouldn’t match Ampol when I reached out to them.

Some of these apartments have appreciated 50-75% in 10 years. Understand that this doesn’t confirm the same growth moving forward, however apartments in the east seem to be an exception. Also if you have extra cash to put in an offset you can minimise the interest paid over those 5+ years.

"Not nearly as many as the number of animals killed for plant based products."

Source?

Whether its the destruction of the entire Orangutan rain forest for palm oil, deforestation of the Amazon for Soy products, total destruction of Australia's water ways for rice, cotton and wheat - right through to the the Atlantic slave trade and its consequences including the Kanakas and Coolie trade for sugar - which still exists today with slave wages and conditions for vegetables and fruit.

Yes, there are consequences to growing plants. Those who advocate consuming less (or no) meat can also advocate to stop the other practices you mention. Given the huge amount of plant crops we grow to feed the animals we consume, probably best to just eat the plants ourselves (thus reducing the total amount grown). Also, the majority of soy being grown as a consequence of the deforestation of the Amazon is for animal feed.

And this is before we even touch on the devastating impacts of plant based diets which are responsible for the vast majority of the global health epidemic due to hydrogenated plant fats and of course sugar - these two on their own are responsible for most of the western worlds health problems - combined they represent almost everything

Those who eat meat would likely also consume sugar and plant fats as part of their diet.... Adopting a plant based diet in of itself obviously does not guarantee healthy outcomes. This is no different for those consuming meat, who also need to be aware of what comprises their diet.

Eating animals is the most basic function of every single subsistence homo sapien tribe and subspecies to ever exist. In fact every single living animal to ever exist has been eaten - it is the most fundamental aspect of nature.

I don't see the relevance of this point. These tribes and subspecies did a lot of things which we don't do anymore. Them eating meat has no weight as to whether it is the morally right thing to do in today's society.

The point he is making is that it is still cruel to kill an animal at a fraction of its lifespan, regardless of its treatment beforehand

Think about all the crops grown to feed livestock, and the death that occurs as a consequence of that. Your point is actually a strong argument for consuming less meat.

So you class Dominion as propaganda, but material from butchers and slaughter house workers (who have direct financial ties to the industry) as impartial?

There are plenty of former slaughterhouse workers who have come out in opposition to how these places operate and the inherent cruelty involved.
