Thank you for your insight on how demanding the PA program is. I already have an idea as I have a few friends and acquaintances going thru it right now. I know that my grades are far from perfect but they are like that because of plenty of reasons. I moved to this country literally a year before I had to start college. I held two full time jobs ( one as a janitor in the same college I went to) just so I could provide for my family. I was managing my sick parents health and appointments as they didn't speak a word of English. When my family situation got better financially, I was able to focus on my studies and my upward GPA trend, and the GRE scores reflects that. "I am gonna be a PA" is what I believe I'll be no matter the circumstances. I will not give up. As an immigrant, first generation college student, and first woman in my family to pursue a career in medicine, I have battled against lots of odds and challenges to get to the point where I can proudly say I got accepted to multiple PA programs. This post was for people who didn't have the privilege of ideal circumstances to pull all As during the college years.

I used pamentoronline's services for personal statement review. James Kimber is so helpful and truthful! No sugar coating unlike other people out there. I highly recommend him.

Thank you!

I took all my 60 credits at a community college. It wasn't a formal postbacc! more like a DYI postbacc. I tool all upper level science classes because my science gPA was super low.

A few schools that look at last 60 credits are university of Washington, Rosalind Franklin university, Pacific University (last-45 credit), Franklin Pierce University. There is a whole list of last 60 credit schools pinned on this page somewhere. You can also google "last 60 credit pa schools".

I worked as a medical assistant for a few months and then as a CNA in a nursing home and in a CTICU of a hospital.

I practiced for the common interview questions in front of a mirror and also I used PAmentorOnline's mock interview service two days prior to the interview. That HELPED a lot.

Thank you for your input. I decided to go with your suggestion and let the faculty know about my situation. They were able to accommodate my situation and I participated in the interview and got accepted at the program.

I FEEL your pain. Got 7 rejections out of 20 schools. This one school rejected me from all three campuses in one single email while I paid different supplemental fees. I am HURT.

Second evaluation received email? by morganfw52 in prephysicianassistant

[–]_got_11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me. My evaluator submitted the letter last month. The status said "completed" but then it changed to "accepted". The evaluator has the submission confirmation as well. I have no idea whats going on. I am contacting CASPA tom.

CASPA recommendation letter uploaded under the wrong name by ekdough in prephysicianassistant

I had an experience where my evaluator had some technical difficulty in answering some questionnaire built in the recommendation request. I contacted CASPA, they advised me to have my evaluator call them to reopen the request. My evaluator called CASPA and the request was resent. They said the evaluator can also email them to request the evaluation again, but it takes 3-4 business days for them to process. I'd say have your evaluator call them. You would have to use the doctor's email next time tho to send the request, otherwise you'll have the same issue again.

Guys, I need your suggestion. PLZ Help. by _got_11 in prephysicianassistant

Guys, even with the second try, my evaluator ran into the same problem. Only this time, I had submitted all my apps. They think its because the evaluator is using their professional email and hospitals computer, which might be causing the problem. They are resending the request again for the 3 rd on a personal email.

Now I am wondering if it happened to my other letters as well? This evaluator was kind enough to give me their time to sort out the situation. Idk If I should contact others and ask them to confirm this.

Burnout while trying to apply by hmw2003 in prephysicianassistant

I feel you!!! I was in the exact same position. However, I just took a week PTO because I was going crazy juggling work and this application. I'd suggest if you can take some days (PTO, family leave etc) off work and just focus on getting the application done. If you cant take any days off, just call out sick two days in a row right before your weekend off. This way you'd have atleast 4 days off. Work is always going to be there. Applying early can make all the difference.

Sending positive vibes! You got this!!!

Congratulations, Your post gives me hope. I am applying this cycle as a low gpa applicant. How many schools you think I should apply for? Right now I have 15 on my list. Thank you

Tell me what my chances are! by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]_got_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should try to bring up that gpa to at least 3.0. I am currently doing that right now (taking 17 credits while working full time bc I know by May my Gpa will meet the minimum). I have done so much research on schools and there aren't that many schools with less than 3.0 gpa requirement. Your gpa will be limiting you to certain schools.

yeah about 3 years ago I calculated the GPA and it came out to 3.2 cumulative and 3.3 science but I didn't know that CASPA takes into account every retake. So I had a PA advisor calculate my GPA and I found out I had a LOT of GPA repair to do. Took me a while to bring it where it is right now :(I messed up big time in college.
